The Holy Comforter Challenge
Dear Friends,

Britepaths of Fairfax County helps those in our area who are struggling. These individuals and families usually have steady jobs, but they live from paycheck-to-paycheck. Any kind of unexpected expense can throw them into crisis.

Our parish supports Britepaths through assistance to its Food Bridge program. Throughout the year, generous Holy Comforter parishioners donate non-perishable items for our Britepaths pantry. Then, twice a year, in March and November, we deliver food and household items to needy Fairfax County individuals and families. Our Outreach Fund contributed $1,532 in 2017 and $679 so far in 2018 to purchase grocery gift cards, fresh produce, baby supplies, and other groceries to complete these deliveries and support other Britepaths programs.

Holy Comforter's budget cuts could jeopardize how Britepaths makes a difference in the lives of the less fortunate in Fairfax County. If you have already donated to the Holy Comforter Challenge, thank you. If you haven't made a contribution yet, please click HERE to donate today. Please type "Challenge" in the optional memo field.

Sincerely,

Susan McGuire

Crop Walk
Sunday, October 7; 2 p.m.
Holy Comforter will be fielding a team to participate in this annual walk to benefit food programs for the needy. No, we won't be harvesting any veggies but rather hoping to raise funds for the Committee for Helping Others (CHO) by getting friends to sponsor the walkers for making the trek. The 3 km /1.8 mi route will start at the Vienna Town Green and end at Vienna Presbyterian Church. Water and light snacks will be provided by the organizers. We are encouraging our walkers to wear a Holy Comforter T-shirt for better team identity but the main thing is to have fun and support a great cause. We're looking for a team leader to organize our group -- no experience required. Please let Joni Langevoort if you are willing to participate and/or act as team leader.
