Intern/Volunteer Opportunities
|
|
It's a new year, and with that comes new opportunities to help with the Lilac Festival! We are on the look out for college level interns or Volunteers of any age that can help us out in two very important areas.
- Social Media/Office - assists with the Festival's social media accounts as well as misc. office help.
- IT - occasionally, we need assistance making sure all of our computers and other office equipment is at tip top shape.
If you, or you know of anyone, that are Social Media or IT savvy,
please contact the Lilac Office team
. This is a great opportunity for someone, especially students, looking to boost their work experience on their resume. However, as an all Volunteer organization, we welcome any and all help we can get!

2020 Co-VP Parade & President Elect

Alan, a recently retired Colonel from the US Air Force, is not only the Co-VP of Parade this year but the President Elect!
After 26 years of service, Alan, his wife Tera and their four children, have settled into the Spokane area for good. Never one to rest, he has started a second career in real estate and is currently an agent with Windermere Realty.
When Alan first joined Lilac as a Director in 2018, he wasted no time to deep dive and learn all angles of the Festival. After being awarded the Spirit of Lilac award, an award honoring the outstanding New Director for the previous year, he didn't hesitate to become even more involved as the VP of Community and Military for our 2019 year. Along with that position, he closely worked with and shadowed, then, VP of Parade Dan VerHeul, to learn how the largest Armed Forces Torchlight parade in the nation is pulled off. He did such an amazing job that there was no hesitation by Dan to hand over the reigns early during the 2019 Parade due to an unexpected illness. The Parade went off without a hitch and we knew we were in good hands in the coming year, not only with the Parade but as President Elect.
Alan is working hard as the chairman of the Finance Committee (a responsibility of the President Elect) and helping us improve in order to keep our 82 year old organization thriving.
We are so fortunate to have Alan on our team and the wealth of knowledge he brings both from his military background, his Fairchild AFB experience, but as well as his enormous involvement in our community. Thank you Alan!
