Fellows News
Jeff Hembrock (2020) joined the foundation board of the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee where he will serve on the Advancement Committee. The research university has an enrollment of ~26,000 students and is committed to the needs of both students and businesses in the greater Milwaukee community.

Rehmah Kasule (2019) is examining how the pandemic has impacted the work of global education leaders, and the emerging solutions that have enabled them to navigate the crisis. Ms. Kasule joined 28 leaders who collaborated with author, Harvard Professor, Fernando Reimers (GSE) on his latest book, Leading Educational Change During a Pandemic: Reflections on Hope and Possibility.

Maria Emilia Correa (2019) has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Humanitarian Quality Assurance Initiative. In this role, she will work to support transparency and accountability in the humanitarian sector at a global level.

Amanda Rischbieth (2017) joined Professor George Serafeim's HBS-led Impact Weighted Accounts Initiative (IWAI) team as an Advisory Practitioner Council member. Dr. Rischbieth was lead author of an IWAI publication titled Accounting for Product Impact in the Consumer-Packaged Foods Industry.

Larry Kantor (2016) says the pandemic; a tense election cycle; public protest; and availability of safe, effective vaccines all have played major roles in the economy and financial markets. Featured in Worth, he reflects on 2020 and optimistically looks ahead for what to expect this upcoming year.

Douglas Renfield-Miller (2015) and the ALI Coalition Democracy Special Interest Group (DSIG) stayed actively engaged and involved in the run up to the November elections. Collectively, the group committed to more than 1600 hours sending emails, letters, postcards, and texts; writing op-ed's; and working polls.

John Conley (2014) and the YMCA network worked to provide critical services for front-line workers during the pandemic including childcare, food delivery, and supervised online schooling for low-income families. At the end of the year, the YMCA received a major donation to support these services. This will mark Mr. Conley's seventh year as an active board member and first year as treasurer.

Waide Warner (2014) and The Post Road Foundation are working to bring high-quality internet to underserved Americans. Now more than ever, a reliable connection is needed to support online learning and telemedicine visits during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Vincent de Luise (2013) has been named a distinguished visiting scholar at Stony Brook University’s Renaissance School of Medicine. In this role, he will mentor medical students and staff on compassion, empathy, and humanistic studies.

Ann MacDougall (2013) is serving as a senior advisor to the Public Voices Fellowship on the Climate Crisis. The program is calling for nominations for its second cohort and is seeking more necessary voices to write and speak about the climate crisis and climate justice.

ALI Faculty Board Member Frank Dobbin (FAS) says that diversity training programs are only helpful when they are opt-in. Writing for The Hill, Professor Dobbin states that even with good intentions, President Biden's signing of an executive order reimposing the divisive diversity training could backfire if not handled properly.

ALI Faculty Executive Committee Member Howard Koh (SPH/HKS) says everyone needs to be on high alert during this highly dynamic time in the pandemic. In the Boston Globe, he discusses the effectiveness of the Moderna vaccine on new coronavirus strains, and the need for additional clinical trials to help keep people safe.

ALI Founding Chair & Director Rosabeth Moss Kanter (HBS) says President Biden must deliver a strong economy and effectively address the powerful divides among various American groups. In Working Knowledge, Professor Kanter and other Harvard Business School faculty offer advice on how to restore a sense of calm in a divided nation.
