Check Out My Garland for City Services
Are you looking for the nearest City park or trying to find your trash or recycling day? Garland has an online tool for that!
Click on the My Garland icon, available on the City's home page. Enter a Garland address in the box to find out about a wide range of City resources, such as:
  • Your City Council District
  • Your Neighborhood Police Officer
  • The nearest fire station
  • The nearest City park and recreation center
  • Nearby crime reports
  • Nearby street conditions (you must select "on" under "Streets Condition" to add street rating to the detail map)
When you click on the specified locations, a Google map opens to help you get directions.  Visit GarlandTX.gov and click on My Garland to explore this new feature.
Summer Nutrition Program Begins Tomorrow
The City of Garland has proudly supported the Summer Nutrition Program for more than 20 years and wants to ensure the youth in the community continue to receive a meal during the summer break.
 
CitySquare, an advocacy organization that works to fight poverty in the community, will oversee the 2019 program. The program provides free meals for children ages 1 to 18, Monday through Friday, June 3 through Aug. 9.

Garland Parks & Recreation Summer Camps Available
Garland's Parks & Recreation Department offers many fun summer camps for children ranging from ages 2 to 17 during June, July and August. 

A variety of camps offer everything from sports and adventure, to arts and crafts, to video games and STEM learning.

Firewheel Junior Golf Camps 2019
Kids ages 7 to 16 are invited to attend Firewheel Golf Park's Junior Golf Camp from 8 a.m. to noon June 10-13. Learn how to play and enjoy the game of golf! Cost is $200 per camper and includes lunch.

Can't make it this session? More camps are available June 17-20, July 8-11 and July 22-25.

Special Library Programs for Children During the Month of June
As part of the Summer Reading Program, "A Universe of Stories," the Nicholson Memorial Library System presents special programs for children in June, including Brett Roberts' Space Magic show, a visit from staff of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and tales from storyteller Jiaan Powers.

Garland Youth Council Accepting Applications Through June 9
Interested Garland residents who will be in grades 9-12 during the 2019-20 school year are eligible to apply to serve on the Garland Youth Council.

Apply Now for Boards and Commissions
Residents who serve on Garland's 11 boards and commissions can make a difference in the City and be directly involved with local government. They serve in an advisory or quasi-judicial capacity, providing information directly to the Garland City Council. From planning and development to multicultural events, boards and commission members advise on a range of City services. The City will accept applications for its boards and commissions through July 1. Application forms can be found on the City Secretary's page at G arlandTX.govSubmit applications to Ren é  Dowl, City Secretary, by email to  RDowl@GarlandTX.gov  or by U.S. Postal Service to City Hall, 200 N. Graduation Traffic Reminder
Through June 21, Garland ISD's Curtis Culwell Center, 4999 Naaman Forest Blvd., will host graduations for many area educational institutions.  In general, motorists can expect traffic congestion along Naaman Forest Boulevard and adjacent roadways approximately an hour before and 30 minutes after graduation events. Non-graduation traffic should bypass that area, if possible.  Motorists can stay aware of potential traffic congestion with this  graduation schedule and map .
