Heritage Trail Tours Next Friday.
Limited Seats Available. Register Now!
Take a trip through time on Lakeway's Heritage Trail tours next Friday, September 20. There are a very limited amount of tickets left for all three tour times: 9:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m and 1:15 p.m. This free tour will be led by the Heritage Committee and bathrooms will be available on the bus.

One highlight of the tour is the historic Liebelt Cabin (pictured) adjacent to City Hall, which was a place Gwen Wunneburger lived for a time. She will be at the cabin during the tours to answer questions about her time in Lakeway and life living in the cabin without the amenities we're accustomed to today. Participants in the tour will also get a rare glimpse inside the cabin and view a storyboard of the move to City Hall from its original site.

NEW: Lakeway Wildfire Prevention

At the September 9 Special City Council Meeting, Lakeway's City Forester gave a detailed presentation regarding areas of Lakeway at highest risk for a potential wildfire. Based on the presentation, Hamilton Greenbelt was indicated as being the highest priority when it came to reducing the amount of potential 'fuel' in the nearly 100 acre parkland. The cleanup options include shaded fuel breaks on the outskirts of the park itself, cleanup around the trails and clean up of dead and downed wood throughout the park. Full cleanup of the park could cost over $300,000, but the City is currently working on finalizing the budget and determining the best method for paying for the project, which could take a year or more.

Homeowners can help reduce the chance of a fire on your property. Lake Travis Fire Rescue offers free wildfire preparedness assessments for residents of Lakeway. Email [email protected] for details.
