Thank you for helping our community's youth reach their full potential for growth and happiness.
YOUR SUPPORT MAKES OUR WORK POSSIBLE
Because of you, last year Ozone House helped over 4,000 young people find a SAFE place to sleep at night, establish HEALTHY relationships with adults and peers, and build PRODUCTIVE futures by gaining employment and attending school.
Ozone House is always open, and we are always available 24 hours a day by phone, and now by text and chat, to help thousands of resilient young people find stability and support.
Did you know that Ozone House provides free mental health services at Washtenaw Community College (WCC) and Eastern Michigan University (EMU) to youth who face homelessness and/or were in foster care through our MORE SUPPORT program? This innovative program, which was established in 2016, is a partnership between WCC's REACH program, EMU's MAGIC program, and Ozone House, and it is a response to the fact that unaddressed mental health concerns are an enormous barrier that youth in crisis face to achieving academic success.
James' Story
“James” started classes at Washtenaw Community College in mid-2016. When his plans to stay with extended family fell through, he found himself unable to secure emergency housing and was sleeping in his vehicle. WCC’s REACH Programreferred him to Ozone House, and he engaged in services in January of 2017. In addition to consistent therapy sessions with Ozone House therapist Dave Zellmer, James received move-in support (including security deposit and first month’s rent) for an apartment near campus. James has maintained this housing for a year. He has also been named to the Dean’s list at WCC and accepted at University of Michigan for the fall term. James plans to study economics and is busy preparing for the upcoming transition.
