COVID19 Pandemic Update
As events regarding the COVID19 Pandemic were in a constant state of flux throughout March, NHN quickly and efficiently followed the mandates for sanitation and social distancing. With the MHBC and Ascension food kitchens adopting a carry out meal distribution, the Food Warehouse began distribution via drive thru set up on Saturday, March 21. These procedures will remain in place until further notice.

A huge thank you to our volunteers for rising to the challenges of this situation!
Thank you to our Community Partners!

Thank you to Rose Chapel Ladies Aide Auxiliary for their donation of 500 prepared meal kits consisting of eating utensils for our food kitchens.

On Wednesday, March 25, NHN Food Kitchen at Madison Heights Baptist served the entree prepared by La Carreta restaurant in Madison Heights. A faithful partner from the beginning, La Carreta willingly serves our community even during such an uncertain time that COVID19 Pandemic has created.

Thank you, Friends at La Carreta Madison Heights!
A huge shout out to our partners at Sweet Briar College ! On Tuesday, March 24, they gave NHN 22 cartons of eggs and over 40 #10 cans of fruit, vegetables, and sauces. COVID19 Pandemic has not slowed the efforts of SBC to help in their community!
Neighbors Helping Neighbors appreciates our community for the many ways they support our mission.

  • Thank you to our anonymous donor of a delicious coconut pie at our MHBC Food Kitchen on March 11.
  • A shout out to the Tiny's Catering who prepared a brisket that was served at the Amherst Food Kitchen on Thursday, March 12. It was enjoyed by all!

It's Not Just About the Food
President Garry Friend's tagline, " It's not just about the food, " has been influential to the volunteer mindset and is now embraced by the clients we serve . On Saturday, March 7, our clients took some time to give thanks and pray for NHN volunteers.
Volunteer Testimonials
In the February Newsletter we shared a NHN volunteer's testimony of what the volunteer experience means to them. This month, we continue with another testimony.

"I was sitting in church one Sunday morning and Mrs. Rowe was speaking about how many people had been fed the day before at NHN food warehouse. I asked at the end of the service how I could get in touch with someone to volunteer. God led me to NHN, and it has been a truly rewarding path. It is such a blessing to so many families that may not have enough food each month without the food warehouse and it is wonderful to be able to give my time to help others. It is wonderful to see God's work anytime but so good to see how He provides for those in need. It is always a wonderful reminder."
