City of Birmingham, MI
Old Woodward Reconstruction Project Update - 8/6/18
This week's work on the Old Woodward Reconstruction Project will serve to complete the project! After four months of digging, sawing, shoveling, sweeping and other mess making activities, it's time to get the downtown restored and ready for company!

City crews and contractors plan to finish what's yet to be completed. Some of the items include installing bike racks, work on a bus shelter on the south end of the project as well as finishing the new parking meter posts and heads. As a way to say thank you for your patience, the City will be providing complimentary window washing to all first floor store fronts in the construction area to help remove the dust, dirt and grime that accumulated following four months' worth of construction. As noted, the window washing service will be for the first floor store fronts, outside windows only and will take place starting on Wednesday (August 8th) and wrapping up on Friday (August 10th).

The boundaries of the window washing on Old Woodward stretch from the north (Willits/Oakland) to the south (Brown) and will be for the windows facing Old Woodward. The window washing will also include 300 S. Old Woodward. Meanwhile, on Maple, window cleaning work will stretch (and include) 141 and 150 to the west to 225 and 202 to the east. As a reminder, this is a complimentary service. Informational notices were provided to first floor businesses last week with more details.

After a four month wait, it is exciting to see what was planned and long discussed, coming to life in downtown Birmingham. The City thanks its residents, merchants and stakeholders for their patience throughout the construction process. The City looks forward to finishing the closing work and ushering in downtown's new era. Also, a reminder, don't miss the City's ribbon cutting ceremony this Saturday (August 11th) starting at 9:00 a.m.

Birmingham Shopping District Merchants:
Thanks again for helping to promote the Birmingham Bonus Bucks (BBB) program. It was very well received. We wanted to make sure that you know that Sunday, July 15th was the last day for shoppers to submit receipts to earn BBB's. We are no longer issuing any BBB's.

Birmingham Bonus Bucks must be turned in to the BSD office at City Hall, 151 Martin Street in downtown Birmingham, by  August 15, 2018 for reimbursement.
