Take Selfies on District Trails Thursday, Win Cool Prizes 

Pose. Snap. Filter. Upload. Love 'em or hate 'em, selfies are here to stay and the phenomenon even has its own holiday, observed since 2015 on June 21. We're getting in on the fun by getting YOU out on our trails with our first-ever
  1. To be eligible, take a selfie on one of Westchase District's trails and post it on Thursday, June 21, 2018 by
    9 p.m. Make sure to use the hashtag #WestchaseTrailsSelfie and say what you like the most about our trails. You can post your selfie to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Each participant will be entered into the prize drawing once only.
     
  2. Bonus entry! Stop by the face-painting station on Westchase District's Library Loop Trail on June 21 from 5 to 7 p.m., have our logo painted somewhere on you and take a selfie with the logo visible. Selfies with our logo will earn a bonus entry in the prize drawing as long as they are posted by 9 p.m. on June 21, 2018 with the hashtag #WestchaseTrailsSelfie and a short note on what you like about our trails.  
Prizes include overnight stays at the Houston Marriott Westchase or the Hilton Houston Westchase, as well as gift certificates to Brookstreet BBQ, Cantina Laredo, Moderno Tacos + Tex-Mex, Palazzo's, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Rudi Lechner's, Salata and Westchase Tire & Auto. We will announce the winners by Monday, June 25 on our social media platforms, so stay tuned.



Construction Progress on District's First Trailside Park



Work crews are making steady progress on the new .3-mile trail running east-west just north of Richmond Avenue. It will connect the HCC Campus Trail with Hayes Road.

Near the east end of the trail will be the first pocket park constructed by Westchase District. Amenities will be added later to the landscaped area including benches, workout equipment and a water fountain. Expected completion of the trail and landscaping is mid-summer .

SignatureCare 24-Hour Emergency Center Now Open

SignatureCare, a new freestanding emergency center has opened at 11103 Westcheimer (at the southwest corner of Westheimer and Wilcrest Drive, former home of J. Alexander's restaurant).

The center is staffed 24/7 with board-certified physicians and is equipped with a full blood lab, plus X-ray, ultrasound and CT equipment to treat everything from strokes to broken bones. SignatureCare accepts most forms of private health insurance. Have questions? Call them at 281-404-2538.

SignatureCare joins Urgent Doc, located at 9668 Westheimer (713-597-7770), as a second walk-in option for medical care in Westchase District.

Farm-tastic Summer Series Returns

The third Thursdays of June, July and August at the farmers market will feature special activities for children and their families. First up, on June 21, we'll have free face painting and members of Playworks will lead play activities and organized games at 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Plus, we'll have someone from the Harris County Master Gardeners on hand with a kids activity table. So put down the electronics, pack up the family and plow on over to the market on June 21!

 
The market will feature free face painting for children on June 21, along with organized play activities led by Playworks.

Ball and Dahl Join Westchase District Board of Directors

Cindy Dahl and Chris Ball recently joined the Westchase District Board of Directors.
At last week's meeting of the Westchase District Board of Directors, two new Board members were present: Chris Ball and Cindy Dahl.

Ball is a senior property manager with Parkway Properties, the company that manages the CityWest Place office campus.

Dahl is a district manager with Camden Property Trust, which owns three apartment communities in Westchase District.

"We're happy to welcome Chris and Cindy to the Board," said Philip Schneidau, Westchase District Board chair. "Each brings a unique perspective and I look forward to their contributions."

Public Safety Through the Lens of Big Data

The enormous volume of digital data created daily is used to customize everything in our lives from our entertainment and shopping experiences to health services and even our safety. 

Processing, analyzing and then putting to use all of this big data can change our lives today as well as influence the near future. 

Westchase District is harnessing crime data collected by the Houston Police Department to identify "hot spots" within the District and allocate resources to efficiently and effectively combat criminal activity.
