Good afternoon,
I am writing today with updates on two important topics. The first update has to do with family visitation, and our plan to begin allowing visits to occur shortly.
Last evening, the Department of Public Health issued guidance to all nursing homes about allowing family visitation of residents in Nursing Homes. Two very important pieces to remember is that these visits can only occur outdoors, and there is a maximum of 2 visitors for each visit. There are
many other components of this plan that need to be met in order to do it safely, and our team is working hard to put a program in place that will allow you to visit your loved ones in a safe manner. I will be in touch again by tomorrow with the details of our plan, and a planned start date.
Secondly, I’m sure that all of you have watched with fear and disgust as much needed peaceful protests have been defiled by a small minority of people not interested in protesting, but in serving their own desire to destroy, and steal. Boston’s violence on Sunday night was felt for miles from the original protest location, including destruction in Chinatown.
Tonight, there is a protest planned in Quincy Center, in the area of City Hall, and the Quincy T station, roughly a mile from our building. While I am hopeful that this protest will remain peaceful, there is always the possibility that it will not. The vast majority of targets of previous violence have been closed retail stores that present an easy opportunity for theft. While there is not much that we can do to prepare for this possibility, we have had conversations with the Quincy Police Department.
The Quincy Police plan to allow the protest to continue for an hour, from 6PM to 7PM, and then to have the crowd disperse. They have every available officer on duty to handle any issues that might arise, and have the Massachusetts State Police and National Guard available to assist as well. The Chief’s office feels that they have a solid plan in place, and that we should be safe. We have several members of our management team staying in the building throughout the protest, and plan and keep a close eye on the news coverage. We will remain in the building until we know that the protest is over, and that our neighborhood is safe. In addition, we have sent out electronic communications to our 3-11 staff to park their vehicles in the back-parking lot, to hopefully detract from any potential vandalism targets.
Please stay safe, and we will be in touch again soon. Feel free to contact us with any questions that you may have.
