Presbytery Matters. Our goal is to highlight things going on throughout the Church: within our Presbytery, in our congregations, as well as in the Synod of the Northeast and across the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We hope that these are things that will be helpful, informative, challenging, encouraging, supportive. In other words, we hope that these things will matter. Angels in Skaneateles
The Presbyterian Manor, which is located at 49 West Genesee St., in Skaneateles, had a very special overnight guest on May 24.
His name is William Shuttleworth and he is a veteran walking the country to bring attention to Veteran's Legislation, Policy and Advocacy.
"I was a guest at the Manor, a joyful community of well elderly men and women who live as a family. They saw that I was both well and elderly and provided me with a room, shower and fellowship. This lovely home in Skaneateles, NY is a model for senior living. These dear people were my guardian angels. Bless them and all of you who I don't get to mention."

Joys and Concerns around the Presbytery
|
In our prayers together this week...
- Pray for the family and friends of Rev. William L. Coop who passed away early Friday morning, May 24, in Colorado where he had been living with his son Joe. Bill came to Cayuga-Syracuse in the mid 1990's when he became pastor of the then South Presbyterian Church. He was predeceased by his wife Joan, a certified Christian educator, who, along with Bill, was a mentor and beloved friend of our presbytery's church educators. Plans for a memorial service in Syracuse will be announced at a future time. Donations in Bill's memory may be sent to Presbyterian Peace Fellowship, 17 Cricketown Road, Stony Point, NY or online by clicking here.
- Please continue to pray for the officers and elected leaders of our presbytery, giving thanks for their willingness to serve and asking for God's blessing on their efforts.
- Pray for all the pastors and almost 3500 members in our worshipping communities as we continue to practice the "one-anothering" we are called to by our Lord and Savior.
In the cycle of prayer for our Presbytery, please pray for these congregations, faith communities, and individual: our Presbytery (the Leadership Team, Work Groups, Committees, and Mission and Ministry Teams), the Synod of the Northeast, General Assembly staff

Pentecost Offering
The Pentecost Offering helps the church encourage, develop and support its young people, and also address the needs of at-risk children. Forty percent of the Pentecost offering can be retained by individual congregations wanting to make an impact in the lives of young people within their own community.
The remaining 60 percent is used to support ministries of the Presbyterian Mission Agency including the Young Adult Volunteers program and Triennium!
We are able to send our delegation of 13 participants from Cayuga-Syracuse to the mountain-top experience of Triennium 2019 because of donations from churches like ours to the annual Pentecost Offering. Thank you!
The Pentecost Offering is traditionally received on the day of Pentecost (June 9 this year.) However, you can help sustain the important PC(USA) ministries and programs that are supported by the Pentecost Offering by making a gift at any time throughout the year.  Seeking pianist/accompanist
The First
Pr
esbyterian Church of Chittenango is looking for a pianist/accompanist and a choir direc
tor to play, conduct and accompany choir rehearsals on Sundays.
Service
starts at 9:00 am
and choir rehearsals take place after the service ends
until 11:00 am
. The service includes a prelude, two hymns and two worship songs. The choir consists of only women that sing mostly SA music with simple accompaniment. We are looking for a pianist who is skilled in sight-reading and has experience singing in choirs. There is compensation.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is in contact with presbyteries affected by Midwest floods
Denomination stands ready to help

 LOUISVILLE -
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is in contact this weekend with presbyteries in states in the lower Midwest, where flooding and tornadoes have impacted communities and forced evacuations.
Jim Kirk, PDA's associate for disaster response in the United States, said Saturday that affected presbyteries were assessing flood damage brought on by heavy rainfall in the Missouri and Illinois River basins as well as the upper and middle portions of the Mississippi River basin.
Kirk says PDA anticipates receiving "multiple" assistance grant requests. It's possible, he said, that PDA National Volunteers will be deployed, although as of Saturday no invitations for National Volunteers had been received.

Gift allows congregations to put 'Faith in Action'
Donor gives money to Detroit Presbytery, making mission dreams come true

According to Karen Linnell, elder of First Presbyterian Church of Farmington in Farmington Hills, Michigan, "It's not often that you get to see a dream come true, especially when it turns out to be more meaningful than you imagined."
Linnell was referring to a $350,000 gift from an anonymous donor, which is inspiring congregations and community partners to work together to put their faith into action through new and existing mission initiatives in communities across the Presbytery of Detroit.
Although no specific guidelines for the use of the gift were provided by the donor, who has been involved with and supported the Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, the conditions of the gift are that the funds must be disbursed within one year for mission projects presbytery-wide.
