Welcome Scott Nuanes to the COE Team
Hello, I'm Scott Nuanes and I'm excited to join Tim Barker's team in the Center for Organizational Effectiveness as a Senior Organizational Development and Training Specialist.  My background is in public education where I've been an elementary school teacher, school administrator, and an Organizational Effectiveness Consultant at Kaiser Permanente. Most recently, I've worked as a vendor for the State for almost five years before joining as a full-time employee. I look forward to directly supporting the employees of the State of Colorado. As a third generation Colorado native, my new position is a dream come true. I look forward to teaming up with you to serve our fellow Coloradans, and to working toward making the State of Colorado an employer of choice. Feel free to contact me at [email protected].

The Colorado Innovation Center
The Colorado Innovation Center is one of the coolest and most valuable resources that you are going to find online this year. This site is the result of grassroots collaboration between employees and allows people to share resources, documents, and templates across agencies. The site is searchable and t he resources are free. Employees can upload helpful resources to share and their contact information is made available for any further correspondence about the topic. Additionally, t here is a Statewide Shared Training page that allows employees to list free classes that are available. The Discussion Board is a great tool for questions or recommendations about the training and development opportunities available on the site.

Guidelines on sharing content through the Colorado Innovation Center:
  • Login with a Gmail account to submit content to the site.
  • Be sure that you have permission to share the content online. In general, if you did not have to pay for the resource and you are not collecting money for the resource, it should be fine to share on this site. When in doubt, contact the author or the organization where you received the resource.
    • Content must already be in an online location in order to be posted on this site. Posting from a team site or personal Google Drive site works for most people
  • You will need an image of the content to post it on the site.
    • Use the Snipping Tool to capture an image of your resource
  • If you select an existing category when you upload new content, it is easier for others to locate your resource.
In March of 2019, the Learning Leader Group started a research project to develop a tool that would facilitate resource sharing across agencies.  It was discovered that a site was already developed that had most of the functionality we were looking for. In the spirit of collaboration and process improvement, the Learning Leader Group and the Lean Champion Team worked together to determine a final hosting location for the site and prepare the site for use by a statewide audience. The lean champions partner with State and non-State agencies, so the scope of this site is far-reaching!

Thanks to Corey and others on the Lean Champion team, the site is available for use! We hope you take advantage of the wonderful resources this site has to offer and that you  share resources for others to benefit from.

The list of lean champions at each agency, is available at colorado.gov/performancemanagement/community-support.

If you are interested in the Lean Champion Group, contact Gary VanSuch at [email protected] or Corey Niemeyer at  [email protected].

Learning Leaders meet monthly to discuss employee training and development resources and initiatives. If you are interested in the Learning Leader group, contact Tim Barker at [email protected]

  • Show them the money
  • Make it easy
  • Make it mobile
  • Feed people
  • Make training part of your company culture
  • Personalize your training
  • Give employees time (and space) to train
