Installation of Altar Servers by Bishop Barres
Greetings from Mr. Gault

Family Fun Night was held on Thursday 16 May from 6:30 - 9:00 PM. Parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, Aunts, Uncles and friends of our students joined us for this most enjoyable evening. Organized by Mr. Donodeo with the help and support of the faculty and staff, it was an evening filled with games and activities resulting in much fun and laughter.

Our seventeenth Annual Spring Gala on Friday, 17 May was a festive occasion that welcomed close to 300 guests to the elegant Sands at Atlantic Beach. Our gracious honoree, Ms. Susan Santoro Bevilacqua spoke so eloquently about her service and commitment to the school and how the young men who have graced our halls have so profoundly affected her life. Several of our alumni, many who recently graduated from college, were present to give affirmation of her testimony. Many thanks to our chairpersons Mrs. Joan MacNaughton and Mr. Marty Bevilacqua as well as the committee members for all their hard work and diligence. I would like to offer a special word of thanks to all those who attended the Gala and to the many others who participated by making a donation, buying gift basket and cash raffle tickets or purchasing a one-of-a-kind work of art created by The De La Salle School students. Congratulations to our cash raffle winners: 1st Prize ($5,000) - Mrs. Providence Castellano; 2nd Prize ($2,500) - Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Lipton; 3rd Prize ($1,000) - Ms. Delia Garrity. The event was a great friend raiser and a tremendous financial success, adding over $120,000 to our school's scholarship fund. Many Blessings to all.

Saturday, 18 May eleven students took part in the Catholic Middle School Mock Trial program at St. John's University School of Law. Representing the plaintiff in a case of bullying, the team secured a victory and monetary award for the client in the case. The judge was very complimentary of our student's performance. Coached by attorneys Susan Santoro Bevilacqua and Grace Moran the team from The De La Salle School went up against students from Saint Martin de Porres in Uniondale who represented the defense. We were extremely proud of their participation and how well they represented our school.

On Ascension Thursday, 30 May The De La Salle School was honored to receive a visit from his Excellency, Bishop John Barres, Ordinary for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Bishop Barres was the principal celebrant at the 12:10 mass for the school and parish community as we celebrated the Lords ascension. This was truly a special event for the De La Salle School as Bishop Barres welcomed ten members of our 5th Grade class to the church as altar servers. He then visited the school for a tour and an opportunity to interact with the students that God has entrusted to our care. Many of our alumni joined our school community to celebrate mass, the installation of our altar servers and his Excellency's visit to their alma mater. Thank you, Bishop Barres.

Our Graduation celebrations are scheduled for Friday, 7 June. The Graduation Liturgy will take place at the 12:10 PM mass with our graduation ceremony later that evening at 7:00 PM. Both celebrations will be held at Our Holy Redeemer Church.  We cordially invite you to join us for either or both of these ceremonies as we celebrate the accomplishments of the class of 2019 and welcome them as the newest members of our Graduate Support Program.

Gratefully yours in our brother, Saint La Salle
