The LIBARY has been reorganized. Please consider making use of the many wonderful books in it! For example, The biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, by Eric Metaxas, or any of the C. S. Lewis books in the theology section. There are also many good resources for Biblical studies or the history of Methodism. We will not have a sign-out sheet. If you want to borrow a book, just take it. We only ask that you return it to the place you found it in a reasonable time, and in the condition that it was received. Also, if you wish to donate books, please do not just drop them off at the library. (Yes, I like to clean out my bookshelves, too.) Instead, please contact Jim Ament by phone or text message at 303-246-2480; or by email at [email protected].

We have moved from a flea market to a Vendor Artisan & Craft market!
We are now working hard to get local vendors and artisans registered, so if you know of someone that would like to share their talent with us, please let them to get in touch with the office, Orpha, or Marcia.
If you know of that person with a special classic or collectors' automobile, get in touch with Vickie or the office.
Thank you to those who have signed up to provide for the bake sale, but we need more people to also sign up. Thank you, Debby Humphrey, for being our lead organizer.
NOW FOR THE SILENT AUCTION! YOU CAN NOT BE SILENT!
In the past, our silent auction has been over the top in many wonderful items from you & local businesses that we all frequent. We depend on our Silent Auction to be our most profitable part of the fundraiser and this year is no different-UNLESS WE DON'T GET ITEMS TO AUCTION. Sample bid sheets were handed out after the 10:30 service to fill out what you might like to offer in our auction. Those can be dropped in the box on the coffee counter or emailed to Marcia. There will be blank sheets to pick up at the box also. Right now, we do not have anyone that has offered to head up the auction, so until that happens, please contact Marcia for more info.
We will be having live music, hot sandwich lunch and lots of fun.
*
IF YOU HAVE USED BUT GOOD CONDITION ITEMS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE SELL, PRICE IT BEFORE YOU COME & WE WILL COMBINE IT ALL TOGETHER TO SELL. THE SALE OF THESE ITEMS WILL ALL GO TO THE CHURCH.
Thank you very much to those who have already signed up to help! We can always use help!

THE SUMMER 2019 YOUTH MISSION NEEDS YOUR HELP! |
We have a lot of luggage to haul on our way to Heifer International Headquarters in Perryville, Arkansas! And all of our seats are currently full of missionaries. We need a small, enclosed trailer to help haul our belongings. We can rent one, but they are very expensive and we are trying to make the most of our mission funds. If you have a trailer that we can borrow from July 27-August 4, please contact Sarah at [email protected] or 303-717-2053. It will make an enormous difference to our mission work!

MINISTRY JOTTINGS BY PASTOR DEB
|
Preaching to a Bear
A priest, a preacher and a rabbi walk into their usual bar where they gathered weekly to have a drink and talk shop. On this particular afternoon, a customer in the bar made the comment that preaching to people isn't really all that hard. A real challenge would be to preach to a bear.
One thing led to another and they agreed to do an experiment. They would all go out into the woods, find a bear, preach to it, and attempt to convert it. Seven days later, they gathered to discuss what happened.
Father Flannery, who has his arm in a sling, is on crutches and has various bandages, goes first. "Well, he says, "I went into the woods and found a bear. I read to him from the catechism. The bear wanted nothing to do with me and began to slap me around. I grabbed my holy water and sprinkled him. Thanks be to Mary Mother of God, he became a gentle as a lamb. The bishop is coming out next week to give him his first communion. "
Reverend Billy Bob spoke next. He was in a wheelchair, with an arm and both legs in casts. "Well, brothers, you know that we don't sprinkle. I went out and found a bear. I began to read to my bear from God's holy word. But that bear wanted nothing to do with me. So, I took hold of him and we began to wrestle. We wrestled up the hill and down until we came to a creek. I quickly dunked him and baptized his hairy soul. And just like you said, my bear also became gentle as a lamb. We spent the rest of the day praising Jesus."
They both looked down at the rabbi, who was lying in a hospital bed. He was in a body cast and traction, with IVs and monitors hooked up to him. He was in bad shape. The rabbi looks up and says, "Looking back on it, circumcision may not have been the best way to start."
May God bless your days during these summer months. We so value your presence in worship when you are in town & appreciate on your ongoing financial giving to stay on track with our ministry budget needs. I hope you are continuing to spread the word on what a great church we have - though you can skip the bears.
