WHAT'S NEW . . .

Earth Elements celebrates 6 years since we opened our doors with big ideas to change the home finishing industry. We want to say thank you, for another great year. Thank you to all of our partners, vendors, employees, and Earth Elements supporters for being with us every step of the way, believing in our mission and supporting us as we continue to grow.

THINGS WE LOVE . . .
Olde Wood
 Flooring
Olde Wood is an Ohio based facility where all your hardwood flooring dreams come true. Their traditional wood flooring is milled the way it used to be, and what they say, the way it should be. Most modern milling companies only utilize only certain parts of the log to make sure that all the flooring looks identical. Not Olde Wood, they believe in turning logs into planks and using as much of the log as possible. This time-honored practice is known as live-sawing. This rare milling practice creates a wide plank flooring product that features (and includes) multiple grades of lumber from board to board.
Tech Lighting
Lighting
For 25 years, Tech Lighting has been the industry leader in contemporary decorative fixtures. Their light fixtures transcend specific aesthetics and categorical definitions – and instead are rooted in innovative, original design and uncompromising quality across a myriad of lighting solutions. In recent years, they have gained broad recognition on the architectural side of their business for balancing an absolute passion for every design detail with a deep concern for the way their fixtures illuminate a space. They care about what their customers care about.
IDEAS WE'VE HAD . . .
Picking out the right lighting for your kitchen island can be challenging so we've come up with a couple ideas to help with that.
Hinkley
Open Frame
Implementing open frame lighting not only helps sight line but also helps with the illusion of space. These pendants from Hinkley are perfect for just that. Operating as a family-owned business for more than 95 years, Hinkley lighting prioritizes family over everything else. Hinkley knows the importance of the kitchen space and the gathering of family and friends that comes with that. Hinkley products are designed to fully integrate performance with style. It is their attention to detail, combined with the highest standards of materials and quality, that have helped set Hinkley apart since 1922.
Hudson Valley
Glass
Maybe you are going for less of an industrial look and don't want straight lines. Implementing a glass pendant still gives you the sight lines and the illusion of space as the open frame pendant, but without the open frame. The pendant pictured is from Hudson Valley, where they design and build beautiful fixtures for people who put quality first—for people who are not willing to trade off that increasingly rare characteristic. Their selections are second to none, and we are confident that whatever you have in mind for your kitchen island you will be able to achieve with Hudson Valley.
LET'S TALK . . .
Kitchen Island Lighting

When it comes to your kitchen island lighting, it's important to get it right. A focal point, a place to gather, a place to work, and in general, a highly functional space, a kitchen island must accommodate several needs—which means selecting the right lighting for the area can be a challenge, but it doesn't have to be.
Sight Lines
 ...always take them into consideration
One of the more critical things to consider when doing your kitchen island lighting is to mind your sight lines. It can be easy to forget this one and place a large pendant somewhere that it is covering up the statement range hood you put in. In this case, if it is inevitable, consider the fixture itself - could you change it to something like wire or glass that is opaque? The material that it is made out of in all cases is important to sign lines. As this image shows, these pendants are very minimal, allowing people to see through them at the rest of the kitchen rather than blocking that view.
