The Power of "We Don't Say that Anymore"
We've all been in that situation with a family member, or a dental hygienist, or someone else we're chatting with - they use a term that our society now acknowledges is prejudiced or unkind. What do you do?

Report on May Food Distribution
On the May 17th, we served 82 families or 281 individuals. We distributed about 2,124 pounds. Despite most of our regular folks being on vacation, we had an excellent volunteer crew (12 people!) on Friday morning. Always a pleasure to be at Live Oak. Your church has a lot to be proud of!
Thanks,
Jen Searight

Let the Painting Begin!
For the last few months, Jon Durbin has been working behind the scenes meeting with the painting contractor and scoping out the work that needs to be done on the exterior of the building. At the Congregational Meeting the congregation approved the expenditure from Capital Funds. Once Rachel Sartin signed the contract, Diane Stepakof-Fay coordinated scheduling and details. On Monday of this week, the work started. If the weather cooperates, it maybe possible that the newly painted building will be finished by Sunday service. Make sure you take notice and thank everyone for their behind the scenes work! Tim Buckley, Buildings & Grounds Team

Faith Development
Here's what you need
to know this week!
Upcoming Adult RE
Summer
Musings on the Message will begin on June 9. Each Sunday at 11 AM you are invited to join a discussion on the worship message in Room 109. These conversations are not a critique of the service, but a chance to reflect on how the message spoke to you, and what challenged you or comforted you in your faith development journey.
Children & Youth
Today is our annual flower communion. During RE hour everyone is invited to create flower art outside or in Room 204, depending on the weather. The summer program begins next week, June 9th. Children should remain in their grade level for 2018-2019 school year until the fall programming begins.
Summer RE Leaders sign-up is now available, and we need lots of helpers! Don't forget that youth are encouraged to sign up to help lead as well! See the poster in the Narthex, or sign up online at
Books and Cooks.
Please consider how you can support faith development by joining one of our teaching or advising teams. The more the merrier, you make friends, support the growth of children and youth and even grow some yourself!
