Beginning July 1, 2019, the cost of daily guided walking tours of the non-profit organization's facility will be $15 per person. Children ages 4 to 12 will be $10, and children ages 4 and under are free.
In addition, the cost of general private tours will now be $35 per adult and $15 for children age 4 and up, and Special Founder Tours (conducted by Old Friends President Michael Blowen) will be $75 for adults and $25 for children age 4 and up.
Lastly, the Special Group rate, for groups of 20 or more guests, will increase to $10 per person.
(Note: Old Friends will honor the former price point on tours that have already been booked prior to this announcement.)
Old Friends is a popular Central Kentucky tourist "Destination" attracting over 20,000 visitors annually. The non-profit organization offers up-close-and-personal walking tours to meet its Thoroughbred champions, including 1997 Kentucky Derby-Preakness winner Silver Charm, 2002 Kentucky Derby-Preakness winner War Emblem, Belmont Stakes winners Touch Gold and Sarava, and three-time Santa Anita Handicap star Game On Dude, among many other stars of the turf.
Tours include a video about the formation of Old Friends and the visitor center features a gift shop.
A leader in the arena of equine aftercare, Old Friends provides sanctuary to over 200 Thoroughbreds whose racing and or breeding careers came to an end. The organization is funded exclusively through donations, grants, tour and gift shop revenue, and annual fundraising events.
Ninety-minute guided walking tours of Old Friends Farm are offered daily at 10 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm from March 15 through November 7; November 8 through March 7 tours are at 11 am daily.
This summer the farm will also be offering special evening "Twilight Tours", which begin at 6 pm, on Wednesday and Friday. Twilight Tours will be available June 1st through August 30th.
Reservations are required for all tours. Private tours must be booked 10 days in advance and are subject to availability.
