Last issue for 2018-2019 School Year
Summer Animal Fostering
Animals may be checked out for the months of June, and July.  It will be the responsibility of you and your child to provide quality care for the animal(s), as if they were your own.  This includes food, water, bedding or litter, and attention.  I will provide students with the animal, cage, and care instructions, but other supplies will need to
be purchased to care for the animal over the break.  Not all students will get an animal or their first choices, so make sure you are willing to care for any of the animals you choose.  Also, please do not sign up to take an animal if you will be away for more than 2 days with no one to care for the animal.  If you are going on vacation but would still like to check out an animal please put that information on the form and we will arrange another time to pick-up or drop off, if available.

 Additional points to consider:
1) If the animal becomes injured due to your care, seek veterinary attention immediately and take care of the  cost as if this were your own pet.  If the animal becomes sick while in your care (lethargic, sneezing, acting  strangely, etc) we will coordinate a time to meet and I will take it to the vet so that Animal Science covers the  bill.  We use Southlake Animal Hospital for the veterinary care of all the animals.
2) For Summer Break we will be adopting out: all mammals, birds which we can separate into groups of 2-3,  and most reptiles/ amphibians (except outside tortoises and fully aquatic reptiles/ amphibians).
3) If you adopt an animal that has two to a cage, they come together.  Some of the cages are quite large and  need to be able to fit in your vehicle. Please contact me if you need measurements to check if it will fit in your  vehicle.
4) Mammals will need bedding while in your care and many mammals/birds/reptiles need 'extra' food such as  salad veggies and fruits.  I will supply some mealworms or crickets, but you will have to purchase more (pet  stores typically carry these), and I will supply frozen rodents for snakes.

Use the following form to fill out which animal(s) your child is willing to adopt.  The form also requires student  and parent information, along with your preferred pick-up date and time, so please read over it carefully.  Some  animals must be returned for summer camp.

Drop off times for those animals is:
June 26 or 28
9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.

Pick up:
July 18
3:00-4:00 p.m.
or
July 19
10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

All animals must be returned
August
9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Have a parent fill out the google form - link above or scan the QR code to the right.
You may sign up for multiple animals and multiple months.

Thank you for your support of the Animal Science Program and for giving the animal(s) a wonderful home over the school break.  I will send a confirmation letter home the week of May 13, and a care sheet will be available at pick-up.

Sincerely ~
