COWBOY CAB KICKS OFF A BUSY SUMMER!

Though we may appear to be totally focused on Cowboy Cab, there are many other excitements going on at Teen Services. Operation Bicycle has resumed its valet service at the Tuesday Farmers Market and Adrian's Community Bike Ride continues to gain popularity. We have a new smiling face in our kitchen as we welcome Mei Ibach as our Lovin' Oven Manager. Mei will be instrumental in expanding our culinary program. Through new product lines and new services - dubbed Lovin' Oven PLUS - we will expand our customer base, the skills we teach, and the number of teens getting on-the-job training. Stay tuned for additional news on the summer launch of Lovin' Oven PLUS.

Sadly, we say good-bye to Francesca Fifis, our Teen Services Program Director and Volunteer Manager for nearly three years. She has been a creative, calming soul for us, and at our last RTW graduation, we witnessed the deep caring and investment she has for each of the teens with whom she interacts. We will miss her, but we are excited for her as she begins the next phase of her career - producing new, healthy food products.

Come join us at Cowboy Cab to wish Francesca well, meet our new staff, interact with our amazing teens and have one heck of a good time!

With thanks,

ANOTHER NEW SMILE AT TEEN SERVICES SONOMA

Welcome to
Mei Ibach, our new Lovin' Oven Manager! Mei was born and raised in a fishing village near Singapore, where she learned very early on the art of cooking many diverse ethnic cuisines. She has been a chef instructor for many years at several institutions including Santa Rosa Junior College, Homeward Bound Marin, College of Marin, and Rancho La Puerta in Mexico. She has also been a consultant to several restaurants providing menu development as well as facility design and contributes her recipes to renowned cook-book authors like Chef John Ash. Mei brings an infectious enthusiasm to her work and an authenticity that stems from her time living within the food cultures that she passionately teaches about. She is excited to be joining Teen Services Sonoma and hopes to inspire our youth to serve others and help build community by sharing culinary skills and promoting the essence of healthy eating.
TEEN SERVICES ANNOUNCES ITS 2019 CHAMPION: SONOMA RACEWAY

From left to right: Jere Starks, Jose Martinez (TSS alum), Noe Ramos, Lino Ramos,
Eric Brown, Steve Page

The Raceway has championed Teen Services for over 10 years with infrastructure support, guidance, and advice. They were responsible for ensuring a safe and secure place for the teens to meet - the Teen Center. They provided expertise in working with outside contractors and architects to remodel the existing space, rolled up their sleeves for tasks big and small, and produced a hangout for the teens to congregate after school, do their homework, socialize, bake cookies and pies, and participate in Ready to Work activities.

The Raceway has supported Teen Services well beyond its physical infrastructure. They have helped fund the Ready to Work program and hired TSS teens, one of whom still works there today (see Jose Martinez in photo). They have provided meeting space for special occasions, offered business guidance, and no Cowboy Cab is ever complete without Steve Page joining the auctioneer to encourage energetic bidding on a unique Raceway package.

Board Co-President Judy Scotchmoor summed it up: "They are always there for us and so it is with gratitude and pride that we recognize Sonoma Raceway as our 2019 TSS Champion."

GET READY FOR COWBOY CAB!

Cowboy Cab is just around the corner and what an event it will be! You can count on the Lovin' Oven appetizers served up by our teen volunteers, plus a delicious BBQ buffet and a variety of liquid refreshments, but this year there are a few new twists.

We will be offering several Buy-a-Spot opportunities. These are set price experiences available to the first 8 or 10 who sign their names. Each will be described in detail at the event or you can view them now on our website.

Our live auction kicks off with a unique donation from Operation Bicycle followed by six additional packages that will whet your appetites, hone your skills, and keep you smiling.   Take a look at these unique items in advance as you may want to get together with some friends to share in the fun!

You will have an opportunity to meet one of our amazing alums, celebrate our 2019 Champion, and raise your paddles for the ever-important Fund-A-Need to support our Ready to Work program. The evening will close with delicious desserts and the opportunity to kick up your heels in a dance step or two.
