CASC invites you all to So Cool So Just - a fair full of student organizations on campus committed to social justice on September 19. Preferred Admissions
All CASC students are eligible for the Preferred Admission program in the Masters of Social Work program at UM. To learn more, read below or contact the Office of Student Services at (734) 936-0961 to schedule a phone or in-person appointment.

Course Substitution Request: If you do not see a course listed that you think should count for your CASC minor, please email the syllabus and a short paragraph about which cluster you think it should count for and why to [email protected].

Senior Audit
Please fill out your senior audit as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please schedule an appointment or visit drop-in to speak with CASC Academic Advisor Joe Galura.

Course Enrollment Petitions:  Students must submit a petition found on the CASC website to enroll in SW 300, 305 (section 1 & 2), and SW 401. If there are any questions or concerns, please email   [email protected] .

CASC-MSW Preferred Admissions Program
Students pursuing a Community Action and Social Change (CASC) minor may apply to the Office of Student Services in the School of Social Work for the Preferred Admission Program leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW). This means you are able to apply to the school as both as junior and senior. Additionally, students will mark a "CASC Preferred Admissions" box on their application that will be taken into account in the decision making process. For admission criteria and more information visit the preferred admissions website.

So Cool, So Just Student Organization Fair 
So Cool, So Just is a space  for students to learn, connect, and network with social justice organizations. Each year, more than thirty organizations and departments gather to inform students about ways to get involved, share resources, and build community.

Unite for Social Change Kickoff Event 
Unite for Social Change is an initiative bringing members of the U-M School of Social Work community together to build and apply skills to move political social change.

Latinx Heritage Month 2018 
Nationally, September 15 to October 15 is the month to recognize history, culture and contributions of people from Central and Latin America in the U.S. The Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs (MESA) has partner with various student organizations and academic departments to carry out month-wide social and educational programing celebrating Latinx heritage. The Constitution's Potential and Limitations in the Struggle of Racial Justice
In honor of Constitution Day, Mark Fancer, Staff Attorney for the ACLU- Michigan's Racial Justice Project will be speak present on the Constitution's potential and limitations in the struggle of racial justice. RSVP.

Detroit School Series
This series promotes an interdisciplinary conversation on how research on Detroit can produce knowledge that is original and relevant to urban studies globally. The first lecture "Why there is no Detroit in Canada?" will be presented by Jason Hackworth.

FATE Program Volunteering 
FATE is a 4 year program for high school students in Detroit. It's mission is to provide resources and opportunities for undeserved youth to embrace education and become world-class citizens. The program is looking for volunteers to serve as mentors for the 2018-2019 academic year. LSA Opportunity Hub's Flash Internship
Flash Internships are rapid, interactive, on-site experiences that help you explore a career in 3 days. This semester, get a behind the scenes look at the nonprofit sector in Detroit engaging with professionals at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO). Anti-racism Student Facilitators 
The Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs (MESA) hiring students to facilitate peer-led teach-ins. Students will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating anti-racism and coalition building workshops. The workshops will focus on Coalition building and dismantling racism  through interactive exercises, dialogic based exercises, storytelling and critical reflection.  Deadline is September 16. Public Service Intern Program
PSIP is for undergraduate students who are interested in interning in Washington, DC during the 2019 summer. During the summer, interns network with U-M Alumni and attend briefings at DC organizations. Deadline is September 27. Learn more and apply.

Democracy Matters Fall internship 
The Democracy Matters Institute (DM) is a non-partisan, non-profit student organization offering a paid internship in "Organizing for Reform" to an undergraduate student on your campus beginning in the fall semester, 2018. They provide undergraduate interns  with a stipend of  $500 per semester , professional  support, a wide range of materials, funding for  campus activities, and opportunities to participate in  regional and national conferences. Funding Opportunities
Luce Scholars Program 2019-2020
The Luce Scholars Program  is a nationally competitive fellowship program that provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia each year. Applications should be from seniors, graduate students, and young leaders in a variety of fields (other than Asian studies) who have had limited experience of Asia. Boren Fellowship
Boren Fellowship are awarded to graduate students for the purpose of overseas language study, academic study, research (either Master's or Ph.D. level), an academic internship, or any combination of the above. In addition, Boren Fellowships can provide limited funding for domestic language study that will supplement the overseas component. Application deadline is January 30. Learn more and apply
