Trinity's 2-service Sunday schedule will continue through September 2.

Holy Eucharist Services: 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. 

The Rev. Sarah Shofstall will preach at both services. Jennifer Cochran and The Gateway Band will play at the 10 a.m. Eucharist service. Music will include Steve Angrisano's "Go Make A Difference," Glen Burleigh's  "Order My Steps" and "Gather Us In" by Marty Haugen.

Community Gospel Reflections (Bible study) - 9 a.m. 

Cathedral Tour  -11:15 a.m.
Trinity Cathedral was named one of Ohio's most beautiful churches in 2016. Learn why in a 30-minute tour that highlights Trinity's architecture, art and history.

Episcopal Peace Fellowship Meeting   - 11:15 a.m.
There will be an  Episcopal Peace Fellowship  (EPF) information session held this Sunday after the 10 a.m. service. 

EPF is a national organization connecting all who seek a deliberate response to injustice and violence, and want to pray, study and take action for justice and peace in our communities, our church and the world.

Marion-Sterling School Supplies  Needed
Donate by Sunday, August 5

Students at nearby Marion-Sterling School will return to class on  August 13 .   Trinity's help has been requested by the School to equip students for the new school year.  Here are the supplies needed:
 
#2 pencils 
12-inch plastic rulers
16-pack crayons
3-ring binders 
Blunt scissors 
Colored pencils
Erasers
Glue sticks 
Pocket folders
Spiral notebooks (one subject) 
Washable wide markers (8 ct)
Wide-ruled filler paper
 
Donations may be dropped off at Trinity's Front Desk. 

Monetary donations are also welcome! You can donate online or send a check payable to Trinity Cathedral with "Marion-Sterling School supplies" on the memo line.  Checks may be submitted through Sunday's offering, left at the Front Desk or mailed. All donations -- supplies or cash -- must be received by Sunday, 
August 5. 

Tip: This year the Ohio Sales Tax Holiday is August 3-5.  During the Tax Holiday, school supplies priced at $20 per item or less  are exempt from sales and use tax.

2018 Youth  Mission Trip a Success!

Last Sunday evening, twenty-six youth from Trinity and the Diocese of Ohio, their adult chaperones and group leaders -- Trinity's  Kate McFadden and St. Paul Medina's Mary Anthony -- returned weary and renewed from their Mission Trip to Dungannon, Virginia. Refugee Family Support Ministry Coffee Klatch
Sunday, August 19, 9 a.m.

In November 2015, Trinity members sent a signed letter to Governor John Kasich insisting that immigrants should always be welcomed in the state of Ohio. 

Shortly thereafter, Trinity's Refugee Family Support Ministry was formed to do the following: 
  • One-to-one family mentoring for those just arriving in the US
  • Financial support for an undocumented family living in sanctuary at a local church
  • ESL (English as a Second Language) tutoring, and 
  • Transportation support for families seeking a safe passage to the immigration courts.

Summer Choir Sunday

Join Todd Wilson, Director of Music, as he leads voices of all ages in song on August 19. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome to join the August 19 choir!  This is the final Summer Choir Sunday at Trinity for this year. Meet in the choir room at 9:15 a.m. to rehearse briefly for the 10 a.m. service.

Senior Summer Social

Seniors, make your reservation to attend the second annual Trinity Senior Summer Social on Wednesday, August 15 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Come for a light lunch, Eucharist and some time with your friends. Volunteer Opportunities

Senior Summer Social Drivers:
Volunteer drivers are needed to transport some of our seniors to and
from Trinity's Senior Summer Social on Wednesday, August 15, 
11 a.m. -1:30 p.m. Drivers are invited to join us for lunch. Contact Ginger Bitikofer at  gbitikofer@trinitycleveland.com to volunteer or for more information.

Marion-Sterling School Supplies Sorters and Drivers:  Volunteers are needed to help sort the donated school supplies on Sunday, August 5 after the 10 a.m. service. The supplies will be delivered to the school on Monday, August 6 (late morning). Contact David Cratty at 216-228-5721 or dcratty1@sbcglobal.net if you are available to help deliver the supplies to Marion-Sterling.

Urban Farm Gardeners:  Volunteers are needed at Trinity's Urban Farm to help with harvesting, composting, mowing, planting, trimming or weeding.  Work crews meet every Saturday, 9 a.m. - Noon at the Farm (East 35 Street and Central Avenue). You need not stay the entire time.

Help Welcome Our CSU Student Neighbors!
Cleveland State University students will be returning to campus soon! This year, Trinity's "Move-In Welcome" for arriving CSU students will be Friday, August 24 and Saturday, August 25 from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed to pass out water and snacks on campus and to welcome students and their families who visit the Cathedral. Annual CSU "Welcome Back!" Block Party 
Trinity will host its annual "Welcome Back!" Block Party for CSU students, staff and faculty on Monday, August 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Trinity volunteers are needed to set-up, prepare food, greet and clean up. Please contact Rev. Sarah Shofstall at sshofstall@trinitycleveland.org if you are interested in welcoming students at this event!

Children/Youth Group Teachers & Assistants: Volunteers are needed to serve in Trinity's Children & Youth faith formation program this fall. The ministry rewards are tenfold in fun and fellowship with Trinity's kids and teenagers. A commitment of two Sundays a month during the 
10 a.m. formation hour is requested. No experience is necessary to serve. Leader orientation and "Safeguarding God's Children" training will be provided. Contact Kate at kmcfadden@trinitycleveland.org or 216-774-0478 to get involved.

Presiding Bishop Recovering After July 31 Surgery

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry is resting comfortably following surgery on Tuesday, July 31. According to the Presiding Bishop's family and his medical team, the surgery went well, as had been expected. A full recovery continues to be anticipated. Read the full update .

Pick Your Own Veggies at Bellwether Farm  
Saturday, August 4, 9 a.m. - Noon

Members of the Diocese of Ohio are invited to "Pick Your Own" day at Bellwether Farm on Saturday, August 4 from 9 a.m. until noon. The current harvest includes: tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, onions, potatoes, carrots, beans, swiss chard, kale, cucumbers, salad mix, herbs and flowers. Donations are welcome and will be gratefully accepted to help support the Farm!  Reusable insulated harvest  bags with the Bellwether Farm logo will be available for a donation of $5 or more.  Contact Farm Manager Kyle Mitchell at  kmitchell@bellwether.com  for more information.


Seed Saving Workshop at Bellwether Farm
Saturday, August 11, 3 - 6:30 p.m.

Cohosted with the Cleveland Seed Bank, the Seed Saving Workshop on August 11 will teach participants the basics of harvesting and saving different types of seed, and how seed-saving benefits communities and biodiversity. After the workshop, everyone will have a chance to taste the fruits of the field at a farm-to-table dinner. The registration is $15 and availability is limited. St. Andrew Hosts Sanctuary Concert VIII
Sunday, August 19, 5 - 7 p.m.
 
St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Mentor (7989 Little Mountain Road, Mentor 44060) will present the eighth in a series of Sunday evening concerts to support its sanctuary family, Laura and her two sons. Celebrate the power of community through an evening of music with Corry Michaels, Guggy Guggenheim and Sur Lawrence Trupo. There will also be homemade Mexican food and hand-made chocolates by Laura!
