We would like to congratulate Dianne Blonde on her retirement. Dianne has been a nurse for 45 years and has worked with Dr. Bailey for 30 years. Dianne was dedicated to and cared deeply for her patients. We are so happy that you shared your passion for nursing with our team. Thank you, Dianne.
What inspired Dianne to become a nurse:
I am so old that back then we only had 3 choices: teacher, nurse or secretary. I had my mind made up before I was 10! My passion for this caring profession has not diminished over the years.

Back-to-school mindfulness
As September is approaching and we prepare for the academic year to begin, it is important to not only prepare your school supplies, but also to develop mindfulness practices in your day-to-day routine. These tips can help you to approach the school year with mindful care.
1.
Practice Gratitude Daily.
Incorporate gratitude into your routine. For example, each family member could share 3 things they are grateful for at dinner every evening. This engages the family in positive conversation and allows everyone to share the good things that happen each day.
2.
Practice Mindful Eating.
On that note, take the time to sit down and be present at dinnertime. Enjoy your meal and acknowledge that we are fortunate to have access to nutritious food.
3.
Switch off.
While phones and computers offer us many opportunities and conveniences, it is important to take a break and put them away to enjoy certain activities “unplugged.” Making mealtime phone-free or designating a couple tech-free hours each night can help to stay present and declutter your mind. Consider playing board games, reading a book or going for a walk during these times.
4.
Simplify.
When school resumes, it is easy to overcommit to the overwhelming amount of extracurricular activities. While it is great to say yes to opportunity, it is also important to not overschedule. Children and teens can feel burnt out, too. Allow time to unwind. When youth are committed to fewer activities, they are able to enjoy their favourite ones more and are able to focus on the activities that are most meaningful to them.

As school approaches it is important to verify that children are up to date with vaccinations
. Immunizations are safe, effective, and benefit people of all ages. They protect individuals and communities by preventing the spread of disease. As more people are immunized, the risk of disease for everyone is reduced. To check what your child needs, please view the immunization schedules at the link below (Click Read more):

Immunizations and Vaccines

Children with chronic conditions have much more than school supplies to prepare for the fall. If your child requires medication while at school, read these tips:
Know your school’s rules:
Who is allowed to administer medication, and who fills in if the person is absent? Is your child allowed to carry the medicine and take it without supervision?
Provide clear instructions:
Prepare a typed list of all medications with warnings and storage requirements. Also include an action plan school staff can refer to in an emergency. Make sure your child, teachers and the appropriate school administrator have current copies.
Know how your child will receive the medication:
Will he or she be expected to report to a certain place at a certain time, or will she be called to do so? What is the policy for field trips?
Keep your child informed:
Your child should be aware of the basics of his condition – signs of an allergic reaction, a flare-up or side effects of the medication. Your child should know proper dosages and be aware of when and how often he is supposed to take it.
Keep tabs on the supply:
If the medication will be stored at school, check often to ensure there is an adequate supply so there are no missed doses. Make sure the medication stays in its original container and label.
A.M. game plan:
School mornings can be hectic, so try to integrate the morning dose into the morning routine. Also have a back-up plan in place if that morning dose is missed and your child needs to take it at school.
