Principal Perspective: Graduation Update
Dear Families of the Class of 2020,

It would be an understatement to say that it has been a difficult year, but our collective efforts have shown that we are "Squire Strong!" When the Covid-19 pandemic came upon us, the Diocese had asked us to provide a date in July for when a traditional graduation ceremony could be held. To date, state and local authorities have not provided any guidance as to how and if such an event can occur. Given the current situation and the fact that a new principal has yet to be selected to direct Delone Catholic for the 2020-2021 school year, I believe it would be beneficial for our seniors and their families to have definitive closure to their academic career. Therefore, in consultation with the Diocesan Secretary of Education, the Board of Education, and my administrative team, we have decided to conduct a modified graduation ceremony on June 12, 2020, beginning at 5 p.m. Out of necessity, this ceremony will follow current CDC and PDE guidelines, be executed in accordance with the expectations of our local police department and will only allow for the participation of the graduating senior and his or her immediate family. I promise that the celebration will be dignified and reflective of the esteem with which we hold our graduates and their accomplishments, while maintaining the safety of all involved. Specific details will be shared as soon as they become available.

Thank you for your support and patience and may God bless the Class of 2020!

Sincerely,

Richard La Rocca
Principal

Principal's Perspective: Collection of Underclassmen Materials
Dear Delone Catholic Families,

In order to return and collect materials from underclassmen, the following schedule has been created: All junior families are requested to come by the school between the hours of 4 pm and 7 pm on Tuesday, June 2; all sophomore families to come between the hours of 4 pm and 7 pm on Wednesday, June 3; and all freshmen families to come between the hours of 4 pm and 7 pm on Thursday, June 4.   Any family that cannot come to school on these days is asked to email Mrs. Michele Noel at [email protected] to set up an appointment.

All arriving vehicles must enter the student parking lot on South Street by the far entrance located nearest the press box, line up single file inside the cones alongside the building/stadium, and exit at the far end of the student parking lot located near "Bubba" (the Marching Band truck). All individuals are to remain in their cars at all times and we ask that you prominently display your family's last name on the passenger side of your dashboard.

Cars will stop at two stations. At the first, all personal items from lockers will be handed to you as well as additional plastic bags as needed. Please fill the empty plastic bags with anything needed to be turned in, for example, textbooks, athletic uniforms, band uniforms, etc. At the next station, the bags will be collected with a label with the student's name by a staff member. All staff working that day will be wearing masks and gloves to reduce the risk of contamination and we ask that those handing materials to them please do the same for the safety of all.

Thank you for your support in this endeavor. Your patience and understanding is much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Richard La Rocca
Principal
