Wrapping Up a Successful School Year
As the 2018-19 school year comes to an end,
Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region, Inc. (CISDR) staff are hard at work helping thousands of students to stay in school and achieve in life. This spring,
418 high school seniors have benefited from individualized CISDR support services such as tutoring, counseling, home visits, and parent intervention. The CISDR campus staff play a vital role in preparing these seniors to graduate and be ready for college and career success.

Mental Health First Aid training to to recognize the signs of students at risk of harming themselves or others. We invite you to read more below and find out how you can get involved, to make sure that every child is surrounded with a community of support.

Women of AT&T Build Garden for Botello
CISDR has partnerships with many community organizations, such as the
Women of AT&T (WOA). This year, WOA launched a their new "WOA Seeds" program. This is a gardening project in which a local Women of AT&T chapter helps to create a garden for a local school or community center. As a CISDR partner, the Dallas Chapter of WOA reached out to us to extend this opportunity to one of our Dallas ISD campus sites,
Felix Botello Elementary in Oak Cliff.
Thanks to the hard work of volunteers from WOA and the Botello community, as well as support from students and teachers, the official ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Monday, May 20. This new garden will help students learn, grow and serve their community. We greatly appreciate the Women of AT&T’s continuing commitment to CISDR and the Dallas region as a whole.

Kites Fly for Communities In Schools
Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday, May 4 to the 16th Annual
Vibha Kite Festival at North Lake College in Irving, of which CISDR was the local nonprofit beneficiary. It was a beautiful spring day, with just the right amount of wind. Kites starting flying around 2:00 pm, and by 6:00, more than 500 of them were soaring through the sky. Thousands of families enjoyed a sunny afternoon and clear evening, along with a variety of program activities from the event’s main stage.
Vibha Dallas had strong support for the event, with both children and adults alike raising money. CISDR set up an area within the Vibha booth at the event, with staff answering questions from attendees about our organization and the programs and services we provide. Special thanks to CISDR board member
Neelima Gonuguntla for connecting CISDR and Vibha and making this partnership possible!
