Hispanic Heritage Celebration
World Compass Academy will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month on Friday,
October 11. Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the cultures and traditions of those who can trace their roots to Spain, Mexico, and the Spanish-speaking countries of Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. The annual celebration is observed from September 15 to October 15. September 15 is the anniversary of the independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico celebrates its independence on September 16 and Chile follows suit on September 18.
Our celebration will be held in the cafeteria during lunch. We will host a variety of fun and interactive activities in the cafeteria and the outdoor space. There will be Día de los Muertos face painting, Pin the Tail on the Donkey, Sombrero Musical Chairs and much more! Our celebration would not be complete without some cultural cuisine, so please be sure to order your kids chicken tamale lunch on the My Kids Lunch website.
Parents, if you are available to volunteer on Friday, October 5th at 4pm to help us decorate our school, we would be grateful. Please email Señora Gabby to let her know if you are coming at
[email protected]
or Señora Garcia at
[email protected]
.
Parents, we also need some assistance with the activities at our celebration on Friday, October 11th. Please look at the sign-up genius if you are available to volunteer for any of the time slots.
Students at WCA are free to wear any kind of Spanish attire on Friday, October 11th.

Art Fundraiser
Hello WCA parents!
This year I've had a great time creating masterpieces with your students thus far!
This year, we are partnering with Original Works to enhance the level of finished art being completed for your enjoyment as a keepsake. The products are professional, and I've used them for my own children's work to save for life.
33% of orders comes back to the Art Department to use for more supplies! We would love to have 30 smocks, more clay and glazes, and even a pottery wheel!
The artwork (which is being completed in class now) mails out Oct. 9, ordering available
November 7 - November 20. You will get a brochure on November 7 with all information to order. Thank you for sharing your students with me! I look forward to getting to know you better as well. Please
subscribe to my website
for updates in the Art department and volunteer opportunities.
Sincerely,
Tifaney Wollert
p.s. Please accept my apology, in advance, for any paint on uniforms.

Middle School Choir and Musical Theater Updates
Middle school choir, please make note that the Taste of World Compass concert date has been changed to Thursday, November 7th. Please let Ms. Armstrong know ASAP if this will be a conflict for your family.
I See Stars auditions are on October 10th and 11th and sign ups are on the
Musical Theater page. Casting will happen over fall break and rehearsals begin on Wednesday, October 23rd.
"I See Stars is a small cast. Please be advised that not all students who audition will be given a role.
Know that all auditions are valued and given equal consideration! If you are not chosen for a role in I See Stars, please don't give up! This is not a reflection of your talent or your importance to me, and I do hope that you will continue to audition in the future!"
