News from The Episcopal Cafe

From the Rector

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary's,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make the Chesterfield's going away party so special. The cake and food were wonderful, and I thank the choir for providing lovely music and leading us in singing Gary and Thelma's favorite hymns. It truly was a special day for very special people; thank you all.

I also wish to thank everyone who helped with Pat Dahn's funeral service and the lunch last Saturday. The service was a beautiful tribute to her life. So many of you stepped up and gave of your time to support Warren and Pat's family in their time of need. The lunch was lovely and I thank all of you who carried out this ministry. A special thank you to all who helped serve, setup, cleanup, and to those who provided food. I know Warren and the family are so appreciative.

This Sunday evening, August 5 th , I will be leaving for England and I will return on Friday August 17 th . You may contact Amy Noe in the office at 815-459-1009, or one of our Co-Warden's, Marge Smith or Tracy Higgins, if you have any pastoral concerns or emergencies. They can contact the on-call clergy if needed. On Sunday August 12, The Rev. Jane Clark will be here to celebrate both the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services. Jane is a retired Priest in the Diocese of Chicago. She recently retired after serving as the Rector of St. Andrews in Grayslake IL for eleven years.

I will see you all on Sunday
