The Gulf Coast Chapter is proud to present
our 21st
Through Women's Eyes
International Film Festival
March 6, 7 and 8
- For our 21st year, TWE kicks-off with an Opening Night Party March 6 at Burns Court Cinema followed by two days of films at Regal Hollywood 11 Cinemas on Main Street, Sarasota.
- TWE is thrilled to introduce a new Emerging Filmmakers Showcase on Saturday night, March 7. In post-film panel discussions, filmmakers will share their experiences.
- Celebrate International Women's Day (IWD) Sunday, March 8, along with our Fabulous Filmmakers' Reception, this year with an awards ceremony. IWD, celebrated globally for more than 100 years, highlights the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women - a perfect complement to our filmmakers' reception and panel discussion.
Locally, GCC is one of the only organizations to celebrate IWD.
- And for our long-time Through Women's Eyes supporters...YES! We have a new logo that is as dynamic and contemporary as our film festival.
Each year, TWE has a fantastic showing with sold-out films, a growing and enthusiastic fan base, and incredible support from the community and local media. YOUR support helps
GCC
and UN Women make cities more livable, encourages women to achieve economic freedom, builds political leadership skills, and ends violence against women and girls.
A sneak peak at two of our films:
"Driving Lessons"
According to the laws of Iran, Bahareh must have her traditional, chauvinistic husband accompany her to driving lessons so she and her instructor will not be alone.
"Cargo"
On 26 August 2015, a human trafficker convoy transports 71 refugees in a truck through Hungary and lets them suffocate to death. The true story is based on the cell phone protocols of the human traffickers published in 2017.

Donate now to support dads - and HeForShe - here in Sarasota
GCC and Second Chance Last Opportunity (SCLO) are hosting a HeForShe dinner dance, a program encouraging men - fathers, uncles, stepfathers, brothers - to support the aspirations and gender equality of the young women in their lives.
This February dinner/dance will engage SCLO community members to be supportive male role models and advocate for gender equality as well as celebrate the aspirations of young women. To learn more about SCLO: secondchancelastopportunity.org
We need your help. Our effort is modest but, with your help, our impact will be huge! Get HeForShe moving by supporting this important Sarasota event!
