LOWER SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Math Minutes

Parents often ask, “How can I help my student with math at home?” With the holidays upon us, you will encounter numerous opportunities to highlight math skills with your children. Cooking, for example, involves several kinds of math. Let them use your measuring cups and spoons to practice their units of measurement. Doubling a recipe (or cutting it in half) is real-life practice with adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. Pull out a ruler and calculate the surface area or volume of a pan of brownies. Your child will likely have mental math strategies at hand, but you can also take a moment to write out the math equations involved. Encouraging your children to help out in the kitchen can show students how math fits in to everyday life for us all.
Window into Wonder Tours

Lower School families are invited to join the Headmaster for one of many Window into Wonder Tours, where we will spend time exploring the rich instruction your children experience every day. Click here to register.
Latin Appreciation Night

All are invited to join us on January 23 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for a special night in celebration of our Latin program. Our teachers are preparing to regale you with an exploration of Latin and the reasons why we teach it, dramatic recitations, and more. We hope to see you there!
