Notre Dame Medical Students Intern at the Medical Clinic Every Summer
Each summer,  medical students from the University of Notre Dame intern with our doctors for an eight-week summer service learning program at the Sarasota medical clinic. Sydney and Arwa are both rising seniors and will be applying to medical school soon. Dr. Donald Snyder, one of our volunteer physicians, shepherds many medical students during their studies at the clinics. Friendship Centers' Founder, Brother William Geenen, started this great learning program about 10 years ago. Our clinics also host medical students from other colleges during the year.
Saturday Night Dance Parties Return
We had a really great turnout for the Saturday night dance party in July featuring Barry & The Boomers and Betty Comora! There were about 120-plus guests, and as you can see, the dance floor was jumping! Thanks to our performers and everyone who attended and helped with the event! We plan on having more evening events, so stay tuned to our Facebook page for details about all the upcoming activities!

Venice
First Paint & Sip Party a Success

In July we offered a new artistic activity at the Venice Center. Called a Paint & Sip Party, participants enjoyed an afternoon of laughing, painting and conversation. Each attendee got his or her own wine glass to paint, and after some instruction, they struck out on their own to decorate their glasses. There was also a little wine involved, so it was a fun experience for everyone.

Special Outings and Events
Tampa Bay Rays Baseball Outing Offered a Stress-Free Charter Bus Ride to the Game

Last week participants from the Sarasota and Venice campuses gathered for a charter bus ride to Tropicana Field to watch the Tampa Bay Rays play against the New York Yankees. The 30-plus participants rode in comfort to the game and as you can see, a great time was had by all. And the seats were pretty good too. We are planning more outings in the future, so feel free to fill out the questionnaire in the centers with your ideas for other local trips.

Upcoming Educational Classes
This seminar is being held in Sarasota, and ITN will provide free transportation for attendees on October 25.

A helping hand for generations to come

Every Legacy gift helps to sustain the Friendship Centers and grow core programs and services for older adults in the communities we serve.  Legacy Society members are able to see the fruits of their gifts in their lifetimes. They are honored and recognized for their generosity  on a permanent plaque in our Legacy Corners, at an annual Legacy Reception and at special events throughout the year.
