Dear Church Family,
May God’s peace be with you. As a community of Christian believers we strive to follow God’s plan and purpose in our lives. Jesus said, “if you love me then obey my commands.” In other words, our love of Jesus is demonstrated in the way we live our lives in every moment of every day.
The Christian life is a journey. As we travel the path that God has prepared for us there will be different seasons that will come and go. Some of these seasons we be great, some difficult, seasons of great growth in our relationship with God and seasons of struggle. Yet, we live with the hope and conviction that God will see us through.
As we travel this journey we are not alone. God and our church family travel with us. One part of the journey together is learning and growing in our understanding of God’ love for us and our love for God. When Jesus stated that we demonstrate our love for Him in obeying His commands He was teaching that we have been given all that we need for this journey and we need to follow the His direction.
Following God’s leading requires of us intentional effort and many times hard work. Let’s ponder for a moment our personal walk with God. Here are a couple of questions for us to answer: Am I living out the commands of Jesus? Am I on the path that God has prepared for me? If either or both of our answers are no or I don’t know then our next steps are prepared for us. If we are not following what Jesus taught is an area of our lives it is time to respond to Christ’s love by loving Jesus to the extent that we begin to do what Jesus is directing us to do.
Most of us have had a person in our lives that we loved so much that the last thing we ever wanted to do was to disappoint that person. It is this type of relationship that God desires for us. That we love God in Jesus so much that we never want to disappoint God or Jesus. Hear these words of God’s grace, God loves you and will be with you no matter how disappointing some of our choices have been. God is waiting now for us to lay our unfaithfulness, those disappointing actions, at the foot of the cross.
God is so loving that He is patiently waiting for us to live a faithful journey as a follower of Jesus. A journey that is marked by living a Christ like life. A life of love and faithfulness. Never forget that you are a child of God, created for a purpose, created as a much needed part of the Kingdom of God.
How are you going to show your love for God today, tomorrow and forever?
Blessings,
Pastor Mike
