Late Pentecost 2018

Dear Friends in Christ:

It's been a good summer with lots of hot summer weather. I hope you've had a chance for some Sabbath time and are feeling refreshed and ready to go.

General Convention was a big part of my summer, and it always makes the summer feel short. Here we are working on our Diocesan Convention already and trying to catch up! Ah, well...

I'd like to invite you to join me for one of two fall Clergy Gatherings at which I'd like to talk about the General Convention and some of the implications for us in our communities of faith. This summer's General Convention marked a sea change in the leadership of the church and also a major change in the way we approach one of our principle tasks - worship. The General Convention declined to undertake the traditional path to prayer book revision, but began a significant conversation on the meaning of "common prayer" in our digital age and encouraged congregations to see what works best in their contexts.

The Presiding Bishop presented a new program of daily practices for all Episcopalian called The Way of Love: Practices for Jesus-Centered Life (link provided below), and we'll want to talk about how you'll use it in your communities.

Finally, there are a number of things calling for our attention locally, including the Episcopal transition process, our upcoming Diocesan Convention, health insurance and more.

Please join me at one of the two gatherings listed below. I look forward to being with you for a time of prayer and conversation. If you have concerns or questions, you'd like me to consider, please be in touch with Barb.

Please bring your own lunch. Beverages will be provided.

Thank you for all you do. God bless you and your communities.

Peace,
+Steve

The theme for this year's Convention is
The Way of Love.

The Way of Love details practices for living a Jesus-centered life, and it will help us as we consider our direction for the future.
