2019 Budget Update
Work is in full force on
Superior’s 2019 budget. In fact Town staff, along with Superior’s advisory
|
|
Committees/Commissions, have been
working on the budget since May. The Town Board will start their budget review meetings in September – so keep an eye out for these meeting dates.
One very exciting item for the 2019 budget –
property tax rates for over 95% of Superior residents will go down by about 5% in 2019! Why? Decades ago, debt was issued for the Rock Creek development to help pay for the construction of streets, sidewalks and parks. The final year of these debt payments is 2018. No more debt = no more property tax to pay for this debt!

STREET REHABILITATION
Project
|
The
2018 Street Rehabilitation Project is underway. This includes repairing McCaslin Boulevard, both north and south of the new Main Street roundabout. At this time traffic will switch over to the west lanes of McCaslin and bottom lift asphalt will be poured. Please continue to use caution as you travel through the work zone.
For more information please refer to the Town's website at

Parking Rules Make Superior Streets Safer
|
|
Preserving the quality of life in Superior’s neighborhoods requires effort from us all. Toward this end, the Town Board approved a new
parking ordinance to address a growing community concern – the obstruction of residential streets due to trailers parked for several days. This ordinance is intended to enhance safety in our roadways. The rules now prohibit semi-trailers from parking along public streets or right of way adjacent to a residential lot. It also reduces the time any other trailer or recreational vehicle is allowed to be parked on a public street from five days to 48 hours.

Historical Commission Corner

Youngsters in Superior will start a new school year this month, a tradition that goes back generations in our country. The timing of the opening of school is an opportunity to visit the

Edith Oehrman a favorite teacher back in the day, just to name a few. Don’t forget, the location of the Museum,
Asti Park, is the old school yard in which were located two frame school buildings one housing grades 1st-6th and the other grades 7th & 8th.
The
Museum is open on
August 4th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is found at 2nd and Maple Streets in Original Superior. Drop in and visit about our Town’s past. For further information, contact

It’s
August and kids are headed
back to school. Drivers, it’s important to pay extra attention along school routes. Make eye contact with pedestrians in and near crosswalks. Slow down around cars parked along city streets as kids on bike and scooters may pop out from behind a parked vehicle. Most importantly
SLOW DOWN giving you extra time to react to whatever may surprise you.
Parents take the time to make the trip to and from school with your
|
|
|
|
kids (before it starts) checking out and addressing safety concerns along the route. Reinforce with children the need to stop at crosswalks and make eye contact with drivers before crossing the road. Check to see if your kids outgrew their
bike helmet over the summer and that they are wearing it whenever they hop on their wheels. Teach them to not wear headphones and earbuds as pedestrians so they can hear what is happening around them. Review
crosswalk safety tips for everyone in your family.
Before the school bells ring we encourage everyone to come on out to
National Night Out in Superior on
August 7th from
6:00-9:00 pm at
Community Park. Come out and celebrate community partnership and safety with local law enforcement and
Rocky Mountain Fire. @RockyMtnFire
