Student Schedules 2018-19
As in the past, students' requests for courses were subject to approval by teachers. With few exceptions, these requests have been honored. Barring computer errors, we do not foresee a necessity to change rosters in September.

Schedules for incoming 7th graders will be mailed the week of August 6. All other new students will receive their schedules at New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 16, from 9-11 AM. Students in grades 8-12 will be able to access their schedules online through MMS the week of August 6

Anyone with an outstanding balance will not have access to a schedule until their balance is paid. Any request for a course change must be accompanied by a written parental request, teacher approval (as originally needed), and a $25.00 Late Roster Change Fee. Since the Master Roster is built according to the original registration of students, we cannot guarantee admission to particular classes. For incoming new students, if an error has been made in placement, teachers will initiate the needed change and no fee will be assessed. No course changes will be permitted after two calendar weeks once school begins. No changes will be made after September 14, however, track changes in courses will be considered into the first quarter at the discretion of the subject teacher for any student who has been inaccurately placed in a course.
Summer Assignments
Reading
York Catholic High School views the development of life-long habits of reading as a hallmark of an educated man or woman, and it encourages each student to read widely throughout the year.  The school also recognizes the value of other on-going academic engagement during the summer months.  Summer reading and other intellectual activities serve to stimulate, to enrich, and to reinforce academic skills during the summer hiatus.  Each current student has received a packet with the assignments for summer reading.  The assignments are also available on the home page of the YC website at yorkcatholic.org in the Announcements section, titled, "Summer Assignments," and on the Forms & Documents page.  Each grade level's requirements are clearly explained and testing and/or projects are due at the start of the 2018-19 school year. Click  here for the list of books for the summer reading projects.  PLEASE NOTE:  There has been a change to the assignments for Incoming 10th Grade Honors and CP/Level II.   It has come to our attention that the summer reading selection of The Coming of the Dragon is out of print. We apologize for any confusion and concern this may have caused. Please disregard any summer reading assignment your child may have received in his or her English class.  We have replaced this selection with Matthew Harffy's Kin of Cain: A Short Bernicia Tale.  The new assignments have been updated on the website.

Math
Keeping students' math skills strong during the summer months helps to avoid the "summer slide" and aids in less review time when school resumes. Students should complete their Summer Math Assignments and return them by August 27.  The assignments are available on the home page of the YC website at yorkcatholic.org   in the Announcements section, titled, "Summer Assignments," and on the Forms & Documents page.
Marching Band
Band Camp begins  August 6 and runs throug h August 16 Monday - Friday 8 AM-4 PM at YC.  Bring your instrument, music, lunch and a snack, refillable water bottle, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes you can march in all day.   If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Mezza at 717-846-8871 x224 or [email protected] .

Fall Sports
Fall Practices Open
Varsity football heat acclimation practice begins Monday, August 6, with all other Fall sports teams beginning practice on Monday, August 13, with the exception of Junior High Cross Country which will begin practice on Wednesday, August 22, after school. For exact practice times, contact the head coach or Mr. Bankos at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x214.

No Practice Until Paperwork is Uploaded
Yesterday was the deadline for online paperwork to be uploaded for students wishing to participate in athletics during the 2018-2019 school year. If you have not completed this and wish to be on a team this fall, you must contact Mr. Hayek immediately at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x244.

Sports Publication
The YC Athletic Association is coordinating the sports program publication, which will be sold during football games, other sports' home games, and through the YC Athletic Office. Each year, parents of seniors are offered to place a discounted ¼-page ad in the program to honor their senior student-athlete or student-musician. Click here for complete information and to see a sample page from last year's program. The deadline to place an ad is Thursday, August 16.

If businesses would like to purchase an ad, please click here for rates and information. If businesses would like to purchase a banner to advertise year-round at our football, basketball, and volleyball games, please click here for information. Thank you for your support of the Athletic Association and our students.

Meet the Teams
Parents and fans are invited to raise the Irish spirit and meet the athletes who will be representing York Catholic on the court, on the course, and on the playing field this fall. Meet the Teams Night will be held Monday, August 27, at 7 PM at the football stadium. Come out and cheer on our teams!
