PASTORAL WORDS FROM SUSAN STOLL:

Addiction in every form, including the current opioid problem, is ravaging our world. How will we as people of faith respond?   The Synod of Lakes & Prairies has found a way to help churches fill a vital
role and take steps to address the crisis by participating in the Faith & Addiction Conference,
September 28-30, in Bloomington, Minnesota.   The event is designed to help congregations, clergy and care givers address the opioid crisis.  Hosted by the Fellowship of Recovering Lutheran Clergy
(FRLC), the scheduled speakers include  Nadia Bolz-Weber, Omar Manegwala and Anne Wilson Shaef and will feature interactive workshops and breakout sessions.  Here is the

MISSION OPPORTUNITIES
HOLY DISCONTENTMENT
The Office of Public Witness, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s public policy information and advocacy office, has just published an updated version of its community advocacy guide titled " Holy Discontentment: Grassroots Advocacy and Organizing in the PC(USA) ." The resource serves as a blueprint for Presbyterians to engage more deeply with civic life and move their community deeper into advocacy and organizing for just public policy on issues of importance to your community.  Learn how to set a meeting with your Member of Congress, host a vigil, attend a town hall, and build your advocacy skills.
