STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
This past weekend, the NHS cheerleaders and coaches attended UCA Camp at Westfield State University where they spent 3 long days working hard to learn new material and stunts. On the 4th day, they were able to show off all the things they learned in a friendly competition against the entire camp. JV earned first place in both the cheer and dance portion and took home an improvement award. Varsity earned a Superior Trophy, a second place trophy in the cheer, a first place trophy in dance and overall, Camp Champions of the entire camp! While working hard for 4 straight days, these athletes were able to stay energetic, positive, and fun, which earned them to take home the "Top Banana" which is an award that is given out to the most energetic fun team at camp! - this is the first time in Natick Cheer's history to ever take home the Top Banana!

The coaches are so proud of each one of these athletes and cannot wait to see where this season takes them!
NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION INFO
July 27, 2018
Dear “New to Natick High School” Students and Families,
I hope this letter finds you all enjoying your summer. As we approach the end of July, we are working hard in planning the New Student Orientation to be held on Thursday, August 23rd and Friday, August 24th. We have some great activities planned to make your start to Natick High School go as smoothly as possible. In addition to activities, you will also be meeting your upper class mentors for the school year, receiving your schedules and laptops and most importantly, you will find out who will be at your lunches on Day 1 and Day 2 of school!
We will begin our program promptly at 8:30 am each day. Student registration/sign-in will begin at 7:45 am each day. Students should be dropped off at the front of the building and enter through the Performing Arts and Athletics entrance at NHS. Orientation is for students only. Please bring a bagged lunch or money to buy lunch in the Dining Hall. Tryouts for all sports teams will be held before or after orientation on both days.
Over 300 students have signed up for the program thus far and we are hoping to see that number increase over the next few weeks. Please reply using the link below. We ask all families to reply whether or not you can attend. If you have already signed your child up, you do not need to RSVP again. If you are not able to attend the program, please reply here so that we can schedule an alternative laptop pickup.

In preparation for orientation, please be sure to complete the following laptop paperwork and pay the $75 laptop user fee. Please bring completed paperwork to orientation on August 23rd. For details on the Financial Assistance Program that includes Musical Instrumental Lessons, Interscholastic Athletic Fees and the Laptop Program Fee, please click HERE .
Enjoy the rest of your summer. We look forward to welcoming you all into the Natick High School Community.
See you soon!

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN:  Being a member of the PTSO allows you to support your high school and the future of all our children . HOW YOU CAN JOIN: Every parent is a member of PTSO. Become an active member by completing the form and sending it with a payment of $25.00 to Lenore Freitas, PTSO Treasurer, 170 Woodland St, Natick, MA 01760. All donations are tax deductible!

Please check the NHS calendar online at http://www.natickps.org/NatickHigh/Homepage.cfm to find the most up-to-date information about meetings and special events. If you provide your email address to the school when you visit the website, you will receive weekly news from Principal Brian Harrigan and PTSO email blasts.

MEET THE NEW DEANS OF STUDENTS!
MR. MATTHEW STROTHER
It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as your new Dean of Students for incoming Seniors I began my teaching and coaching career at Natick High school twenty years ago when I was hired as an Assistant Football Coach and Substitute Teacher in 1998. During that time I completed my Master’s degree and was hired as a full time Guidance Counselor for the following school year. In addition to coaching football, I also coached track and field at Natick High School since 2000. I have also coordinated the Advanced Placement testing program. In addition to my new Dean role, I will continue to coach track and coordinate our Advanced Placement program. Senior year is an exciting and emotional time of your life filled with memories that you will carry with you long after graduation. I am thrilled to share some of these experiences with you! In my role as your Dean of Students, I will support you fully as you prepare for your life beyond Natick High School.
MR. JASON HOYE
I wanted to write to you and introduce myself as your class administrator this year and your future at Natick High School, as I will remain with you for 11th and 12th grade school years. I am very excited to transition into this role, and getting to know each and every one of you. I will be entering my 11th year in Natick Public Schools and my first as an administrator. I began my teaching career in Newton Public Schools as a Special Education paraprofessional in 2004. After obtaining my educator license in 2005, I began teaching adaptive physical education and middle school PE until the spring of 2008. I was hired at the Wilson Middle School in Natick where I spent four years teaching PE. When our new building opened in the fall of 2012, I transitioned to NHS and have been here since. I have also been an assistant on our football staff, and am the Varsity baseball coach. As many of you know, NHS is an exciting and vibrant school community, and the students make my job enjoyable every day!!

MEET THE NEW VICE PRINCIPAL!
MS. ERICA COLE HARMS
I am excited to come to Natick after working for 16 years in education throughout the state of Massachusetts. Most recently, I was the 6-12 Science Department Chair at Weston Public Schools. Prior to that I was the Assistant Principal at Weston High School, a Science Teacher at Weston High School, Monson High School, and Leominster High School. I have a BA in Neuroscience from Smith College, a MAT in Education from Simmons College and a CAGS degree in Educational Administration, Research and Policy from UMass Amherst. I am currently finishing her PhD in Educational Leadership from Simmons College. I got married last year, moved to Waltham with my husband this spring and became an aunt for the first time this summer. I will be working with another group of “firsts” to Natick High School as I support the incoming 9th graders.

LOCKER REQUESTS
All 9th graders, transfer students and international students will be assigned a locker. The locker number and combination appears on their schedules. Since many students do not use a locker, we are asking students in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades that would like to use a locker to reply to this Google Form . All students who request a locker will be given one.

COFFEE WITH THE PRINCIPAL
All parents are invited to join Principal Harrigan for coffee and conversation. This is a great opportunity for all parents to meet in a relaxed setting to share information, ideas and to make suggestions.
