"We the People"...first printed in a Newspaper 
Did you know that  the first public printing of the  Constitution, was as part of a newspaper?  It was published in The Pennsylvania Packet and Daily Advertiser, on September 19, 1787, by John Dunlap and David Claypoole. Click on the picture to see a larger photo of this rare newspaper stored by the National Constitution Center at the Independence Mall in Philadelphia.
Speaking of newspaper printing... there are now PRINT ACT bills presented both before the House of Representatives and the Senate. 
The legislation, H.R. 6031, "Protecting Rational Incentives in Newsprint Trade Act of 2018" or "PRINT Act," was introduced June 7 and would temporarily halt both the preliminary and any final duties while the Department of Commerce completes its study on the economic health of the printing and publishing industries.
The House bill is identical to S.2835 being considered by the Senate Finance Committee.

Minimize Production Delays
From a timely Editor & Publisher newsletter this month:

"You simply can't have every spare part in stock, and good luck reaching the one vendor who can help at 3 a.m. Sunday night. If you haven't figured it out by now nothing, I repeat nothing, breaks down in the middle of the day when vendors are available. It's an unwritten rule of newspapering.

Keep as many key parts on hand as you can. You'll never have everything that you need, but make sure to keep a decent stock of the small and inexpensive parts that can stop you dead in your tracks. Bearings, switches, spray bars, rollers, blankets, etc. won't necessarily break the bank, but they can keep you from printing."

National Ice Cream Day (July 15th)
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month. He also established National Ice Cream Day as the third Sunday in the month, which makes it July 15th this year.
Ice Cream Sodas
The ice cream soda was first made in 1874 by Robert Green, a vendor at the Philadelphia Jamboree celebrating the city's 150th anniversary. He ran out of ice, and began to put a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream into the sodas he served. He later claimed the idea for ice cream sodas came to him in a dream. Regardless of which story caused him to put ice cream into a glass of soda, it was a great idea! 
"Creamier" Soft Serve
Soft serve contains air, introduced at the time of freezing. The air content, called overrun, can vary from 0% to 60% of the total volume of finished product. The amount of air alters the taste of the finished product. Product with low quantities of air has a heavy, icy taste and appears more yellow. Product with higher air content tastes creamier, smoother and lighter and appears whiter.  (Seriously surprised by that fact...  Who knew it wasn't "more cream" that my it creamier?)
 Most Ice Cream Scoops Balanced on a Cone
Entertain your family this holiday!

To achieve the Guinness World  Record, the cone can not have a diameter over 9.5 cm (3.74 in), and all the ice-cream has to remain on the cone for 10 full seconds.

Currently, the title is held by multiple-record-holder Ashrita Furman. In October 2013 he expertly heaped a whopping 100 scoops on a single cone, at the kitchen of the Sri Chinmoy Center in Jamaica.
