Dear BFCCPS Community,

Last week students in Grades Four and Five were treated to a performance by our students in Grades Seven and Eight during the Instrument Showcase Concert. This was a wonderful way for younger students to learn more about the opportunity to join the band at BFCCPS. Please contact Mr. Heater with any questions you might have about our instrumental music program.

Thank you for your patience while we kicked off the year in our beautiful new building and refined our dismissal procedures. We are excited to once again be able to offer several after school activities and clubs. The structure will look a little different this year as we will be offering three distinct sessions of roughly 10 weeks each. Tonight at 7pm we will release the registration details for Season 1 on FamilyID; twelve different clubs and activities will be offered during this season. You will be able to find the registration forms on the BFCCPS Landing Page on FamilyID starting at 7pm tonight.

The Lost and Found is already full of misplaced belongings! Be sure to send your children to the Learning Commons to look in the lost and found cabinet, or stop by the office to sign in. Any items not collected by October 15th will be donated to the Quebec Clothing Drive for Grade Seven. Moving forward the bin will be emptied and contents donated on the last day of the month.
If you haven't completed your child's School Year Registration yet, please take a moment to do so now. We ask that all parents take action on this registration by Monday, October 7th. Please note that students for whom this information has not been completed may be restricted from school computer use and excluded from field trips. This form provides us with emergency contact information, indicates if you provide permission for using school technology, attending field trips and more. You must use your student's LASID (student ID number) when submitting this form. If you are not sure of your student's LASID you can look it up on your SchoolBrains account .

Looking forward to a great rest of the week,

Mr Perna

Grade 8 Pie Fundraiser for Washington DC - October 1 through October 17

Do you buy pies for Thanksgiving? Purchase early and help Grade 8 with their Washington DC Trip. Most pies are frozen and just need to bake before eating. The cream pies just need to be thawed. Sales are from 10/1 until 10/17 with delivery at 11/20 at BFCCPS. Most pies are $17.00. Payment is due with your order. See attached order form . Any questions please contact Mrs. Schwab.

Breakfast and Lunch Ordering:

A special reminder that breakfast & lunch orders are due every Monday by 5pm for the following week. Our food service program requires pre-ordering, we can not accommodate “walk up orders” at the lunch counter. We do not have any flexibility to accept orders after the deadline since we have to submit our orders to the lunch vendor; we would be incurred a significant charge to any additions after the deadline. In happy news, if by chance you do miss an order deadline, you miss out on only one week’s worth of ordering. In that event, be sure to send lunch from home for the week as we do not have extra lunches on hand.

You can find the lunch ordering links for the next few weeks posted here:

If you’d like to see what you ordered for lunch, be sure you ordered etc, you can reference this article on FamilyID for help: https://familyid.helpscoutdocs.com/article/115-viewing-all-activity-and-updates-to-your-registrations-viendo-los-cambios-en-un-registracion

Box Tops

Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to cut their box tops and send them in. The first submission deadline for this school year is November 1st, so we will be collecting through October 15th. Please send them in via kid mail to the PCO mailbox. We will be sending out collection sheets in November for the next submission deadline which is March 1. It’s OK to send in the box tops in baggies or envelopes as well. Also, if you prefer to not clip and just want to scan your receipt, the box tops app works really well!
Capstone Corner:
Beginning in seventh grade, students develop, plan and initiate a self-designed, service-learning project. During their eighth grade year, students complete their project and present their work to a faculty panel and wider school community at the capstone assembly. Students receive guidance through this process as part of our advising program, however complete the project outside of school and requires parental help and support every step of the way. You can learn more about the Capstone Process here on our website.

We are incredibly proud of the variety and quality of the projects our students produce. Through capstone, our students illustrate that young men and women can make an impact on their school, community and world. Ongoing Capstone Announcements will be posted in Ben's Buzz, we hope you will review the student projects and select some to support as a family.
