Parents Experience 21st Century Learning
As the world changes, so do the essential skills our students need to be successful. This is the 21st Century, and as educators, we want to ensure our students learn the essential skills, knowledge, and dispositions needed to succeed in their adult life. We are currently preparing students for careers that may not even exist yet, and to solve problems we may not even know are problems yet. Teachers are incorporating 21st-century skills such as; communication, collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity along with course content. Today's classroom may be more personalized than what you might recall from your own high school learning experience; teachers facilitate learning to individual students' needs, skills, and interests. Opportunities for parents to experience our learning labs will be held throughout the year.

From the Clinic
Karen Thimsen, Clinic Assistant
There is always quite a lot of illness at the beginning of the school year every year. If your student has a temp of 100.4 or more, Fulton County Schools requires that they stay home and can return to school only when they are fever free without the aid of medication for 24 hours. If you take your ill student to the doctor and find that they have an illness such as mono, strep or flu, please send me an email at
[email protected]
or call me at 470-254-2536. Please let me know what symptoms he/she has had and the date they started. We need to track these illnesses because if there are several cases, we let all Cambridge parents know so they may watch for the same symptoms in their students and hopefully stop the spread of a contagious illness.
Thanks so much, and please feel free to contact me with any questions.

PAWS Class Changes
Change Request Form Now Available
Students have the flexibility to change their PAWS as their interests and academic needs change. The PAWS Change Request Form is now available at
www.cambridgehs.org
. Please note that academic changes will take priority and students are to follow their current schedule until they receive a new schedule indicating that their change was made.
Parents, students are asked to complete the PAWS request form to advocate for their interest or where they need support. Should a student require support in a specific subject area, the student's teacher, grade-level administrator, or counselor will request to have a student's PAWS schedule change to support that need.

Here Comes the Bus Tracking App
Now
Available
Fulton County Schools has launched a free app called "Here Comes The Bus" that allows parents to track their student's school bus. The app uses GPS technology to locate and track a school bus. Similar to ride-sharing apps, buses will show up as an icon on a map, and parents can follow its progress at the bus moves toward their child's stop.
To sign up, parents need their child's student ID number and the Fulton County Schools' code - 87428. After completing a brief user profile, the app is ready to use. Multiple students in the same household can be put on the same account, and using their Launchpad login, students can download the app to their cell phones or other personal devices to view their bus status.

PSAT: Wednesday, October 10
Student Guide
The first step in your college search does not involve choosing a location or a program of study. But it does require some work on your part. The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test) offers you two unique opportunities. First, your PSAT score helps you show today's best colleges and universities that you have what it takes to succeed. Second, the test helps you sharpen your test-taking skills for the SAT exam next year since the test includes the same types of multiple choice questions you will find on the SAT Reasoning Test.
Today's best colleges and universities are on the lookout for students with the nation's highest PSAT scores because it is from this pool that National Merit Scholarships are awarded. Before you face the challenge of the PSAT, take a few minutes to discover some simple strategies you can use in your PSAT prep that can boost both your confidence and your PSAT scores!
