Santa Fe Chapter | Newsletter | October 2018
Santa Fe TTN is organized and led entirely by volunteers.
COORDINATOR'S CORNER
October marks the one year anniversary of my move to Santa Fe, and that feels like a milestone. In some ways it doesn’t feel possible that a year has passed and in other ways it feels much longer. So much has changed!

When we decide to move in a new direction in our lives, it’s impossible to fathom all the many ways in which our life will be changed. We arrive in a new place (literally or figuratively) and find ourselves in an unknown and sometimes strange landscape. We may have mixed emotions – missing the comfort, familiarity and predictability of the old and also feeling apprehensive, overwhelmed, and yet excited by the possibilities of the new. It’s important to understand and honor all those feelings and reactions so we can find our way forward on the new path we have chosen.

Upon arriving in Santa Fe, while enchanted by the breathtakingly beautiful surroundings of high desert, mountains, enormous sky and ever-changing clouds, I felt isolated, missing the comfort of having friends and family close by. There was a point in time when I felt completely untethered, having pulled myself up by the roots and then with great effort transplanting myself in this new place where nothing felt familiar. I needed to remind myself that putting down new roots takes time and patience and sometimes even great effort.

As I began to venture out and find my way into my new world, I found that there were many others who have also experienced similar feelings as they transitioned from one stage to the next. I found that each new connection strengthens the web of belonging as we reach out and share our truth and our concerns and our joys with others. Now, one year later, I can say that I am beginning to call Santa Fe my home. And that is a milestone to celebrate!

Join me and the amazing and supportive women of TTN Santa Fe Chapter at an event or monthly program this month!

“The need for connection and community is primal, as fundamental as the need for air, water, and food.” - Dean Ornish

JOIN A TTN TRANSITION PEER GROUP!
WE ARE STARTING NEW PEER GROUPS!

COME JOIN US FOR THE TRANSITION PEER GROUP KICK-OFF
October 4, 2018, 7-9 pm

A Transition Peer Group consists of a small group of women (usually 8-10) who join together in each other's homes (usually once or twice a month) to discuss topics of mutual interest and relevance to their current lives. Transition Peer Groups provide opportunities for connection, new friendships and mutual support in a safe, respectful environment as women navigate their individual life transitions.

Here's what one Peer Group participant said: "I have found participating in our Transition Peer Groups one of the special opportunities offered by our TTN Chapter. We share our individual experiences of chosen topics such as aging, friendships, isolation, or passion in a confidential environment. The unique format encourages developing the art of listening, the art of shared facilitating and providing the kind of support which enables each member to find their own unique solutions."

Participation in a Transition Peer Group is a TTN member benefit.

The Kick-Off will be held at 34 Via Summa, Santa Fe (off 599)

Please bring your calendars for
scheduling your group's meetings.
