Celebrating Dr Fitzgerald

It’s time to celebrate Dr Fitzgerald!

Our Head of School will be retiring on June 30 th , and we simply can’t let him leave without highlighting pivotal moments in SJ history that wouldn’t be possible with Dr Fitzgerald’s leadership and vision.

In 2016, St Joes implemented the Francis Xavier International Scholars Program with a goal to broaden student awareness of the global mission of the Church, while also helping them traverse the distances between culture, economics, religion, and geography. Since its inception, St Joes has sent students on trips across the globe, including to China, Italy, Greece, Ecuador, and Peru!
"They tell us, get the kids on a plane every now and then. We listen. Our immersion trips go all over the world, our students work with people from all walks of life, learning about all sorts of cultures and economic situations."

Mrs Marino Retires After 40 Years

With prayers and great thanks for her years of service and dedication to St Joes, we would like to recognize esteemed faculty and SJ alum, Mrs Peggy Marino '71!

Mrs Marino embodies the core values of St Joseph High School: faith, family, friendship. In addition, her integrity, loyalty, and commitment to others made her an integral part of our community. The impact that she has made on our school will always be remembered and we congratulate her on her retirement!

"A challenging academic background, good and life-long friends, the knowledge that someone cares about you and is there for you, and a community of faith - I received these blessings when Sr. Catherine picked up the phone and asked me to come in for an interview in 1980 – and this is what I wish for all my students." ~ Peggy Marino

St Joes Summer Reading
One Book, One School, One Community.

Each student at St Joes must read  The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland for their required summer reading.

Through our shared reading experience, we will explore varied projects for each academic discipline, and come together as a community for shared discussion and activities.

The Day the World Came to Town by Jim Defede
ISBN-10: 0060559713
St Joes highly recommends that our entire community also read All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely. T wo high school students (one African American and one Caucasian) retell the story of the same event but through two different lens.  All American Boys displays the different ways racism manifests itself in everyday life, explores the fundamental reasons that racism exists, and shows how it can be perpetuated even by those who do not mean to cause harm. W ith input from our faculty, staff, and students, this book will act as springboard for much larger conversations and curriculum pieces that are being developed.

We hope all of our parents and students will take the time to share what they love about St Joes with the rest of the world!
Cadets Carry On: Tuition Relief Fund
Dear SJ Families & Alumni:

Many, many thanks to those who have contributed to our "Cadets Carry On" Tuition Relief Fund thus far! It truly conveys the strength and resilience of our unique community.

Many families have been impacted by the current pandemic and need financial support. During the month of June, we ask that you consider a gift to the tuition relief fund.

Our academic success is directly tied to the generous support and constant encouragement of all who believe in our mission. Your gift, no matter how large or small, will ensure that our community continues to stay strong. We thank you in advance for your support!
