A SHOUT OUT TO OUR FAMILIES!

A "shout out" to our parents who attended our first parent engagement opportunity of the school year last Monday morning. Although our group was on the smaller size, we were able to have excellent conversations about how to support our children with making & keeping positive friendships. We also discussed how to support a GROWTH MINDSET at home. To view the presentation on GROWTH MINDSET
, please check out the PDF by clicking on the link below:
We hope that you will join us for our next family engagement opportunity later this fall (date to still be determined) as we plan for the two most requested events: How to support my child's growth and learning in mathematics & how to help my child use technology in a safe manner.

We are also thrilled to have four family members of Highlands students volunteer to be parent representatives on our school's Site Council. As part of the process of forming a new Site Council group, our parent community does need to vote for the parent representatives (even when there are four volunteers and four openings). Please read a bit about each candidate and why they would like to be a part of our Site Council group, and then simply click on the link to vote:

BRITTANY FOLLANSBEE:
My name is Brittney Follansbee, and I am a parent of 3 children attending Highlands. I have a 5th grader, a 2nd grader, and a Kindergartener. I have been in education for 13 years, and I previously served as the President of School Site Council for Mesa Grande Elementary School in Hesperia, CA.
I currently work for a charter school as an Education Specialist, overseeing homeschoolers. As a parent in education, I would like to serve on this council so that I can be involved and informed on decisions that will benefit all of our students.

MALINDA PILARSKI:
My name is Malinda  (Gidget) Pilarski and I am a parent who has had children attending Highlands Elementary for the past 10 years, with one currently in 3rd grade. I would like to serve on Site Council and help in any way that I can.

JENNY GLAUSER:
My name is Jenny Glauser and I am a parent at Highlands of three children in 3rd, 5th and 6th grade. I have been very involved in Highlands' PFO as well as Site Council. I would like to continue on Site Council for the 2018/2019 school year!

CAMIE GADBOIS:
My name is Camie Gadbois. My two amazing children attend Highlands Elementary School.  I have a Masters of Education.  I have been a middle school teacher since 2001.  Before becoming a teacher, I was a Head Gymnastics coach for competitive gymnastics and a Contract Administrator for an internet company.
