Equipment Loan Program: Up and Running

cricut Our Equipment Loan Program is up and running again! You can visit our website to review the available items and start your reservation process. We recently weeded out many items that had not circulated well. What we have now is a lean collection of popular Maker kits and other items that your library may not have the resources to acquire.

The big items that everyone has been asking about are now available - the Cricut Maker and  Rigamajig kit. Just contact us for more information on reserving them! Start by visiting our Equipment Loan page:  NEFLIN Equipment Loan.

New Horizons: Word 2016 Series

NEFLIN has once again teamed up with New Horizons to bring you a new series of Microsoft Word 2016 classes. We just announced them yesterday and seats are filling up! If you need to develop your Word skills, be sure to sign up for this series!

As always with New Horizons classes, we do not require that you take all three levels, but it is highly recommended.

Please keep in mind that even though we no longer have a penalty for no-shows, if you aren't able to attend a class we need to know. Seating is limited in New Horizons classrooms and these classes usually have a waiting list.

All classes are 9 AM - 4 PM at the New Horizons training center in Jacksonville. Click below to register:

Member Service: Archived Webinars

It's not always easy to step away from public service responsibilities to be a part of online training opportunities - but there is so much good information to be gained!

If you're interested in an upcoming webinar but aren't able to attend, remember that NEFLIN webinars are recorded and archived online for you to view at a convenient time.

To see a list of all archived webinars, go to the Training page and click on the Archived Recordings tab.

Member Spotlight: Joe Baca

Joe Baca is the NEFLIN member in this month's spotlight.
He facilitates the Technology Interest Group.

Joe Baca is the Makerspace Librarian for the Alachua County Library District. His main duties are to coordinate the library district's makerspace programs and activities.
Alachua County has a floating makerspace collection which allows the branches to request makerspace materials and activities tailored to their patrons' interests.

Joe hopes to expand the library's makerspace programing to include more adult-oriented programming by reaching out to the community groups whose interests include such activities as programming, 3D printing, and sewing.

Previous to working for Alachua County, Joe worked at the University of Florida at the Marston Science Library as a library assistant. There he had a variety of responsibilities from working in the serials department to being the library's webmaster. Before leaving for Alachua, he was in charge of the daily operations for Marston's 3D printing lab.

Joe has a broad interest in how library services are shaped by new technologies. Joe received his MLIS from FSU and his BA in English from UF.
