The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published a great COVID-19
Vaccine Communication Toolkit for use with Essential Workers. The toolkit includes several educational resources, including letters to employees, training materials, a fact sheet in multiple languages, and social media messaging tools. We encourage everyone to take a moment to review all these resources and consider using them when educating employees on COVID-19 vaccines.
Johnson & Johnson Applies for Vaccine EUA
On Thursday, Johnson & Johnson applied for emergency use authorization (EUA) for their COVID-19 vaccine from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA advisory panel will review information from the vaccine trials and determine if EUA is recommended.
The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is a single-dose treatment, which is the first of its kind in the United States. More information on Johnson & Johnson's request to the FDA can be found

OPWDD COVID-19 Data
On Thursday, February 7, The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) shared data regarding the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, and deaths due to COVID-19 within the service system.
As of February 3, 2021:
- 8,977 people supported have been confirmed to have COVID-19.
- 6,561 of these people reside in a certified residential facility.
- There have been 594 deaths relating to COVID-19.
- 12,066 staff have been confirmed to have COVID-19.
OPWDD has not yet supplied more detailed data regarding COVID-19 cases by setting. As a reminder, New York state maintains data on cases by county here.
