DuPage County COVID-19 Community Vaccination Clinic to Expand and Relocate to DuPage County Fairgrounds
The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) announced today that starting Feb. 10, the DCHD COVID-19 Community Vaccination Clinic will relocate to the DuPage County Fairgrounds located at 2015 Manchester Road in Wheaton to expand its vaccination capacity as vaccine supply allows. Vaccinations are available by appointment only to individuals signed up on the DCHD registration form

“I’ve been proud to work closely with the Health Department as we have navigated the COVID-19 pandemic and worked to reduce its impact on our residents,” said DuPage County Chairman Dan Cronin. “Right now, I’m also proud to say DuPage County is leading the collar counties in getting vaccines into people’s arms with over 116,000 doses administered to residents and 3.34% of its population now protected with two doses.”

In DuPage County, DCHD developed its community vaccination plans using a decentralized approach. To achieve this, vaccination plans were built upon the existing public and private partnerships within the County. This provides the ability to utilize the existing infrastructure to vaccinate as many eligible individuals, as quickly as possible.

“The community vaccination plans developed are both flexible and scalable based on vaccine supply using a decentralized community vaccination model. Recognizing the large-scale effort necessary to vaccinate county residents, DuPage County Health Department realized early on it would require a strong network of partners which we are fortunate to have,” commented Sam Tornatore, DuPage County Board of Health President.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Every week, the DuPage County Health Department will be sharing the most frequently asked questions (FAQ) about the coronavirus pandemic to help educate and inform county residents. For a list of additional FAQ, visit COVID-19: Frequently Asked Questions.

Will the amount of vaccine administered on a weekly basis increase? If so, when?
The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) is hopeful that COVID-19 vaccine supply will increase but there are no definitive timelines on when that may occur. Once vaccine supply is more robust, the rate of vaccination is expected to increase as more vaccine will be available for the DCHD community vaccination clinic as well as the network of healthcare providers approved as vaccination sites.

When someone is alerted they are now eligible to get the vaccine and schedule an appointment, is that only through the DCHD vaccine clinic?
Individuals who have registered with the DuPage County Health Department will receive information to schedule an appointment through DCHD or another healthcare provider. If a person eligible in Phase 1a or 1b has registered with the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD), they will receive weekly updates on the progress of our vaccination efforts. Once it is their turn, they will receive a link to schedule their appointment with DCHD or another healthcare provider. While individuals wait their turn, they may also contact their healthcare provider and private pharmacies for earlier appointment opportunities.

What do people do if they're not permanent residents or workers of DuPage ?
If they have verification of their current employment or residence in DuPage County when they schedule their appointment they will be served. Everyone is encouraged to seek vaccine opportunities within the county they live or work in and should return to the same location for their second dose.
