Believe it or not, the first quarter of the school year comes to an end next Thursday. Therefore, next week is the last week for students to catch up on missing work, especially missing work caused by absenteeism.

At the conclusion of the week, teachers will be working on computing first quarter grades and preparing for the Parent/Teacher conferences scheduled for Tuesday, November 5th. As in the past, school will not be in session on that day, so that conferences can be held. You will be receiving your assigned conference time in the near future. Please be sure to return the confirmation for your assigned time ASAP. As always, we appreciate your cooperation in conforming to the schedule, but if a change of time is necessary, please contact us immediately, so that we can do our best to accommodate your request.

This morning, Fr. Mengel was here with us to celebrate the Mass for the Feast of St. Luke. St. Luke, the evangelist, is credited for writing one of the four gospels. There is an emphasis on prayer in his gospel and Fr. Mark spoke of the importance of prayer in helping us deepen our relationship with God. Have you prayed with your child lately?

Peace and God's blessings,

Ms. Ann E. Dougal
Principal

  School Mass

Thank you to Fr. Mark Mengel for celebrating Mass with us today and for our Grade 6 students who served as readers and altar servers.  Fr. Mengel reminded us that today we celebrate the feast of St. Luke, one of the four gospel writers.  St. Luke always reminded people to pray in his gospels and Fr. Mengel reminded the students about the importance of praying.

From the Classroom of Mr. Welch - Gr. 7

Check Out The Models in Science!

Hello this is  Mr. Welch, the new 6th and 7th grade science teacher at St. Michael's Academy. The students in my 7th grade classes have been very busy lately studying cells and my 6th grade classes have been busy studying atoms.

To compliment their lessons, the 6th grade classes have been working on building some atomic models. The students joined up with two of their classmates and broke down formulas and word problems in order to convert them into 3D models. These models were made with hard foam spheres, wooden skewers, toothpicks, and markers. Using these tools and their own accumulated knowledge, our students made some fantastic displays!

I am looking forward to a great year with my students and I look forward to meeting their families. I consider myself blessed to be able to teach such creative and intelligent students.

Food For Thought

"Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love."
