Welcome Class of 2022!

This August, BCOM welcomed its third class of 162 future physicians. In keeping with the college’s mission to increase diversity in the physician workforce, an astounding 35 percent of the class of 2022 are underrepresented minorities and 36 percent are either from the Southwestern region of the United States or a member of an American Indian Tribal Nation.

The BCOM Pulse Wins National Award
BCOM's monthly e-newsletter won a first place award in the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine’s annual Excellence in Communication Awards. 

Faculty Member, Students Have Work Published
Suresh Antony, MD and medical student Marlina Ponce de Leon contributed a chapter to a probiotics textbook, and student Harris Ahmed had his work published in the NMSU Library Archives.
 
BCOM Students Featured on AACOM Website
Adam Moreno and Michael Davis are featured on the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine's website as recipients of the Arnstein Minority Scholarship.
 
BCOM Hosts Mini-Workshop for Local MDs
MD physicians who share their expertise in BCOM's Principles of Clinical Practice course learned the basics of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) from Dr. Joanne Ray and Dr. Adrienne Kania.

Student Explores Field of Medical Genetics
Clinical Research Coordinator Nasim Bekheirnia; Chase Cho, OMS-II; and Reza Bekheirnia, MD, FACMG

C hase Cho spent the summer between his first and second year of medical school interning at Baylor University under medical geneticist Dr. Reza Bekheirnia. Cho learned the ins-and-outs of the "detective work" required in the field of medical genetics and gained valuable insight into this relatively young specialty. Read on to hear more about his experience and his advice for other students considering a summer internship.
