Can you believe we are starting another school year?
The hustle and bustle of school is definitely here! I am excited for all of our students to return on Monday, August 20th. I can't wait to see all of our students and hear about their fun summer adventures. We look forward to seeing all of you on Tuesday, August 14th for New Student Orientation and Meet the Teacher. Class lists will be posted today on our website at 5:00 p.m. The staff of Lovejoy Elementary is committed to continuing our legacy of excellence of nurturing student's hearts and minds. NEW! New Student Orientation - First through Fourth Graders
If you have a first through fourth grader new to the Lovejoy Independent School District, and will attend Lovejoy Elementary for the 2018 - 2019 school year, we invite you to attend our New Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 14th. The event begins at 3:00pm and will last until 4:30pm. Parents will convene in the Lovejoy Elementary gym to receive information about Lovejoy Elementary while students participate in various fun activities to orient them with their new school.

EW! Meet the Teacher Night
Meet the Teacher Night is scheduled for Tuesday, August 14th. Our kindergarteners may come at 4:45 - 5:30pm. Please note that our Kindergarten Meet the Teacher is NOT a come and go event. Our teachers will meet with the parents, and we will take our Kindergarten students on a tour. Children in grades 1 - 4, may join us at 5:30 - 6:30pm. While making your way about the building, you may want to stop by the cafeteria to enter money into your child's lunch account, purchase spirit wear, join the PTA, etc. Also, be sure to sign the form in your child's class, informing us as to how your child will be getting home at the end of the day the first week of school and on a typical day. We hope to see you on the 14th! Please use the church parking lot for overflow parking, and please do not park in the fire lane.

Check out the Lovejoy Elementary class lists on the August 10th at 5:00pm, in the convenience of your own home! You may go to the Lovejoy Elementary website under Parent Resources to see each grade level. If you prefer your child's name not be included on the Lovejoy website, please contact us at (469)742.8100. As a reminder, we worked very hard to create balanced class lists; therefore, we honored one of your three parent requests.
NEW! Office Closed on Monday, August 13th from 7:30am- 12:00pm
On Monday, August 13th, Lovejoy ISD will kick off the new school year by having our annual convocation. This is an opportunity for our entire staff to learn and be set up for success for the new school year. Therefore, our office will be closed from 7:30 - noon. If you need anything on Monday, please plan to call or visit us after 12:00pm.

Please join the Lovejoy Elementary School PTA! The cost is $8.00 and you will receive a Lovejoy Elementary Directory. Each member will be included in email and text communication throughout the year for all PTA sponsored events. Every member that joins the PTA will be entered into a drawing that will be held at the Ice Cream Social for a parking space. The classroom with the most PTA members will also win a popsicle party!

NEW! Gifted and Talented Referrals for 2018-2019
T
he referral window for gifted and talented services is now open. Referral forms will be available online in the PowerSchool Parent Portal beginning August 13th. The window for referrals will close September 7, 2018.
Testing is scheduled for Saturday, September 15th and 22nd for students in grades 1-12. Please note: Kindergarten students will be tested at a later date.
