Summer of Praise: Praise Him in our Failures

It's so much easier to praise the Lord when everything goes our way. But what about when we face failures of all kinds: small, big, persistent, or catastrophic? Then it becomes a lot harder to "rejoice in the Lord" because it seems so counter intuitive and so out of touch with reality.

Students and Children dismissed @ 9:50 am to Summer LTA and DIVE.

The Work Party is On... But the Barbecue is Off!  Volunteers??
The work party at the Petter's is on! We need many able hands and there is plenty of work; please call or send an email to John Bleuer (617 901 9345) ( jdbleuer@gmail.com ).

We do want to announce that we are postponing/cancelling the barbecue. Simply, the timing might not be the best for the church and 'us men' hadn't thought through the details of chairs, tables, food etc.

First Sundays Together

Summer has been a wonderful time of worship together. There has been a wonderful energy in the room as children join in praising God with students and adults, and combining the student band and adult worship team has been a blessing for us all. Our young scripture readers have been so encouraged by participating, even receiving cheers from their friends when they head up to LTA after the greeting! We want to share with you some exciting news that as we launch a new year of ministry.

We have decided that these celebrations should not be only a seasonal event, but a regular rhythm in the life of our church. “First Sundays Together” will be times of celebration and unification as we highlight the children’s theme for the coming month as well as a special feature for not just families but the whole church that is relatable to people of all ages. We hope that these Sundays strengthen our identity as a church family and help us get to know one another and celebrate the amazing things God is doing in our lives.

Beginning in October, on the first Sunday of each month, we will worship with one voice as one unified family. Adults, K-5 children, and students will begin together as we have done this summer, and split off into age-specific ministries after 20 minutes.
Welcome Brunch September 30 th

Newcomers are warmly invited to our next Welcome Brunch on Sunday September 30 th from 12-1 pm. Here you can share a meal with the Staff and other newcomers and learn more about the mission and vision of the church.

Tuition Fund Raising Effort Now Underway for Lifting Up Liberian Youth (LULY). Will You Help?

Thank you to everyone who contributed supplies and the funds to send them, along with Teddy, to Liberia next week! LULY is now looking to raise funds for eight (two children now have continuing sponsors!) highly motivated children to attend school this coming academic year. With no public school system, these Liberian youngsters
will not receive an education unless they receive financial support.

$500 for each child will allow them to attend Christian schools this next year. The schools also provide an opportunity to receive Christian training, and the scholarships are a wonderful way to tangibly share the love of Christ through giving.

Can you help? Teddy can be reached at: elwa08@yahoo.com or 978-761-5239.

To sign up, fill out a “We Can Do More Together” volunteer card, which will be on the Children's Ministry Check-in Desk this Sunday. If you have questions, contact Gail Hughson or Cheryl Alexander.

What We’re Learning in LTA in This Week

Pre-K:
We are super excited about our new theme as we leave land and head for water with Anchors Away. We’re even more excited about our bottom line as we set sail to teach preschoolers that God’s way is perfect.

Week 3: Josiah (Young King); 2 Chronicles 34.
Story Focus: I can help others go God’s way.

K-5:
When Jesus was a boy, He grew in wisdom. God wants us to discover wisdom, too. When we make the wise choice, we reflect the character of Jesus to people around us. That’s why giving kids a strong foundation of wisdom is important. We want them to be equipped to face whatever choices they may need to make in the future.

Week 3: 2 Chronicles 10; Rehoboam Listens to Fools.
Bottom Line:  If you want to be wise, hang out with wise people.

Greeting Ministry

Greeters stand in the lobby and at the doors to help people into the building safely. Arrive at 9 am and help us foster a welcoming community.

Usher Ministry

Ushers are absolutely critical in helping newcomers form their first impression of TCC. You help set the tone for the worship experience to come. You are representatives of God’s kingdom. You’re not just opening doors, providing information, handing out bulletins or collecting the offering, you are making people feel welcome!

Sunday Hospitality / Coffee Hour

If you enjoy having a cup of coffee while chatting with others during the 10:30 am Fellowship time, please sign-up (alone or with your Small Group) to host a coffee hour!  You don’t even have to provide snacks – just make, set up and then clean up the coffee and tea (Easy instructions provided – click here to see what is involved!) Participation gives you and your group an opportunity to serve the Lord and is greatly appreciated by your fellow members.

Counters

Are you accurate and reliable? Volunteers count the weekly offering (mostly checks for deposit) each Sunday, and we are in need of new helpers. Offering counters work in pairs.
Local Outreach
We partner with local Christian organizations to help us achieve the greatest impact in serving our community. We also believe that serving the poor is an essential part of the Christian faith. If you are not yet involved in one of these ministries, sign up yourself and/or your LIFE group today!

For more information, please contact Jen Calverley or Nancy Griffin at 508-358-7717 or email frontdesk@tccwayland.org.
The Bridge House

The Bridge House, located in Framingham, is a faith-based recovery home for men with substance abuse problems. Their program provides individualized treatment including counseling to support the spiritual, physical, social and intellectual health of each person in recovery. TCC would like to provide a meal for 50 to Bridge House every month.
Pearl Street Cafe

Pearl Street Cafe provides dinner for 50-100 people every weeknight. TCC will provide 12 volunteers to serve dinner there every 1st and 5th Monday of the month from 4:30-7 pm. It's a great way to serve others in our community and no cooking experience is required. We simply wait on tables and serve food prepared by the Pearl St. Cafe staff . There is no age restriction on the volunteers. We hope you will join us and serve!
SPREAD THE WORD...
OUR FOOD PANTRY IS OPEN and fully stocked!

The Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry is well stocked and ready for anyone who needs a helping hand. Loaves & Fishes is there for our neighbors, friends, senior citizens, etc. Let's try to remember everyone! Please contact the church office during its business hours for information or assistance.
