Horizons Tour of Homes Was a Success

With 23 homes in and 13 official sponsors being showcased in this years Tour of Homes it was amazing. Plus the efforts of the Home Builders and their dedication to the  Raising the Roof Campaign.

Embracing the tradition of presenting fully decorated and landscaped "dream homes," this year's show also incorporated 21st technology enhancing the customer experience. Attendees were able to geo-locate each home, learn about design and decorating features and instantly connect via social media with builders, contractors and suppliers.
Featured builders included Alliance Homes, Bielmeier Builders, Brownstone Homes David Homes, Designer Homes of WNY, Essex Homes of W.N.Y., IQ Modular, Jurek Builders, Marrano Marc Equity, MJ Peterson/Tucker Homes, Natale Builders, Regency Builders and Sunset Builders.

The BNBA raised $305,000 to benefit Roswell Park as part of the 2018 Horizons Tour Homes through their Raising the Roof campaign. Participating builders dedicated a portion of the sale of their Home Show house to benefit the comprehensive cancer hospital.   Builders that took part included Alliance Homes, Essex Homes, Marrano Marc Equity, MJ Peterson/Tucker Homes, Natale Builders and Regency Builders. These builders along with trade partners and home building professionals were committed to making a difference in the community through the Raise the Roof campaign.

LEGISLATIVE CALL TO ACTION - Condo Tax

This bill would result in significant tax increases for residents of newly constructed condos and co-ops and for rental properties which are converted to co-ops and condos.
The infrastructure in condo and co-op developments is generally privately owned.  The roads, sewers, water lines, sidewalks and other infrastructure are owned and maintained by the homeowners association.  Unlike other subdivision developments where such infrastructure is typically dedicated to the municipality which then assumes ownership and maintenance responsibilities, condo and co-op owners are charged monthly fees to cover any costs connected with maintenance and replacement of such infrastructure, so the municipality does not have any responsibility for such costs. On June 18th, Senator Betty Little's condo legislation (S.1191-B), was,
surprisingly, passed to the Senate Finance Committee and seemed headed to the  floor for a vote. But, after a strong lobbying effort, which included NYSBA members  calling their state senators, and a much appreciated assist from Senator  George Amedore, the bill was tabled.

A big thank you goes out to our local BNBA members as well for their effort.

The BNBA met with Senator Chris Jacobs and Senator Michael Ranzenhofer recently to educate them on the concerns of this bill and to move forward in improving it.

Annual BNBA Outing

New this year - Pig Roast/Clam Bake

After the weather cleared from the rain, it turned out to be a nice afternoon. We had about 100 attendees out. Clams were great, the horseshoes dried out, and the pig roast was a big hit. Hope to see everyone again next year.
