Strengthening Stark Week is almost here! Held Monday, October 21 through Friday, October 25, Strengthening Stark Week is a week-long celebration highlighting county-wide economic development programs and initiatives. Events during the week are an opportunity for people in our community to get involved and learn more about how local leaders and organizations are collaborating to make our community larger, younger and more prosperous.

Tuesday, October 22
8 to 9:30 a.m., Strengthening Stark Governance Overview Breakfast
Courtney's Banquet Center (By Invitation Only)

Members of the Strengthening Stark Governance Committee will provide an update on this year's accomplishments and outline goals for 2020.

4 to 6 p.m., Innovation Day Mixer
The Marlene and Joe Toot Global Learning Center at Walsh University

A panel discussion featuring representatives from major companies including Timken, Aultman and Johnson Controls along with area startups like Phoenix Enterprise Solutions and ScriptLock will share how they use technology and innovation within their business. Artist Career Workshop

ArtsinStark is hosting a workshop for 30 local artists where the organization will award $3,000 in Instant Career Grants and a chance at another $7,000 in Special Project Grants.

Wednesday, October 23
9 a.m. to noon, Stark County Job Fair
Massillon Recreation Center
505 Erie Street North, Massillon, OH 44646

Hosted by the City of Massillon and co-sponsored by a number of community partners, job seekers will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with employers that are actively hiring. The event is free and open to the public. No registration required.

Employers interested in recruiting at the job fair must register by October 18. Cost is $150, and registrations are limited to the first 65 employers. Employers can register here: Employer Registration

Thursday, October 24
9 a.m. to noon, Grant Writing Workshop
Kent State University at Stark's Conference Center

Led by SCORE, this workshop on grant writing provides knowledge and skills to increase your fundraising success. Cost is $10 per person. Attendees can register here: Online Registration

5 to 7 p.m., Chamber Consortium Happy Hour Event

During the networking happy hour, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose will share state initiatives and how they will impact Stark County. The event, which is for members of participating chambers, is free, but registration is required through the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. Members can register here: Online Registration

Friday, October 25
8:30 to 10:30 a.m., THINKBIG
Over 170 conversations taking place at various venues throughout Stark County

Organized by Stark Community Foundation, THINK BIG is a day of engaging community conversations centered on how we can strengthen Stark County together. On October 25th, neighbors will gather in small groups at libraries, restaurants, office breakrooms, coffee shops, homes and everywhere in between to brainstorm solutions to 14 community needs while celebrating the good in Stark County. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Artist Spotlight
During Strengthening Stark Week, ArtsinStark will launch Artist Spotlight, an online webpage where corporations can visit and contact Stark County artists who specialize in creating one-of-a-kind awards for company employees or board members.
